Gainesville, in thecounty of Hall and State of Georgia, have invented a new and useful Packet-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has reference to flexible securing devices, and more particularly to devices employed for retaining a plurality of letters or similar articles together, to facilitate the handling of the same, in transit.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a clip or securing means forsecuring the ends of a cord or other flexible ele ments against displacement on the pack or bundles of letters associated therewith.

A further object of the invention is to provide a metallic clip having clamping jaws for clamping the flexible binding element thereto, to facilitate the quick and easy attachment of the binding element to the pack.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a clip of this character which is punched from a single sheet of metal, the, tongues and aws formlng part thereof, be-

. ing formed integral therewith.

With the foregoing and other objects in viewwhich will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made withinthe scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing Figure 1 illustrates a top plan view of a pack of letters, or cards, with my invention applied thereto, showing the manner of positioning the flexible securing thereto.

Fig. 2 illustrates a top plan view of the clip, forming an important feature of the present invention.

Fig. 3 illustrates an enlarged sectional view. taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2, and

Fig. 4 illustrates an end view in elevation of the same.

The jaw 6, is provided with a cut-out portion 9, which provides a curved tongue 10, of a length to extend upwardly through the opening 1'1, formed in the opposite jaw 5, for purposes to be hereinafter more fully described.

As shown, the tongue 10, is curved toward the forward ends of the jaws5 and 6, the curved portion lying in a plane above the upper side face of the jaw 5, the extreme end 12 thereof, extending downwardly and terminating at a point in the same plane with the lower wall of the jaw 5. y

This jaw 5, is curved downwardly, intermediate its length, as at 13, to provide camming surfaces, over which the flexible element 14; may pass, thereby guiding the flexible element let, to its proper locked position, under the tongue 10, thus facilitating the applying of the device to a letter pack.

While I have disclosed, in Fig. 1 of the drawing, the preferred planner in passing the flexible element let around the pack, it is to be understood that the manner of applying theflexible element, may be varied to meet the requirements or changes necessary, in applying the flexible member to packs of various shapes and sizes.
