Description

CIGAR AND CIGARETTE HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED mm. 1919..

" III A TTORNE Y.
UNITED STATES THEODORE R. JAMES, OF ROBSON, WEST VIRGINIA.
CIGAR AND CIGARETTE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 28, 1921.
Application filer! July 1, 1919. Serial No. 307,987.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODORE R. JAMES, a citizen of the United States, residin at Robson, in the county of Fayette and tate of West Virginia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cigar and Cigarette Holders, of Which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to means for converting a holder for cigarettes into a holder for cigars and the principal object of the invention is to provide an attachment which may be easily and quickly secured to the cigarette holder and so formed as: to accommodate cigars of difierent sizes.
Another object of the invention relates to the means for securing the cigar holder to the cigarette holder.
The invention also consists in certain, other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view of the invention in assembled form;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section; and
Fig, 3 is a view of the two parts detached from each other. i p
In these views 1 indicates the cigarette holder which may be made of any suitable material and of any desired form. This holderis provided with the usual mouth piece 2 and the flaring end 3 for receiving the cigarette. Adjacent this end a groove 4 is formed around the outer circumference of the holder.
5 indicates the cigar holder which is made of elastic material such as rubber and is of slightly conical form so as to receive the end of the cigar. A ring 6 is formed on the inner end of this cigar holder and is preferably formed of hard rubber. This ring is adapted to engage with the groove 4 in the cigarette holder to hold the parts together.
The body of the holder 5 is sufiiciently elastic to receive any size cigar which may be thrust into its large end. The ring will tightly engage the groove so as to make an I antight joint and thus not interfere with the draft of the cigar. When the device is to be used for a cigarette, the holder 5 is slipped off the cigarette holder and may be placed in the pocket. I prefer to color the holder 5 to make it resemble the cigarette holder.
What I claim is 2-- A device of the class described comprising a cigarette holder having an exterior annular groove adjacent its outer end, a cigar holder made of elastic material and having a ring at its inner end for engaging said groove for holding the parts together, said ring being formed of less elastic material than the rest of the cigar holder.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
THEODORE R. JAMES.
