Beit known that 1, CHARLES AMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Warren, in the county of lVarren and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disinfecting Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled-in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. 1
This invention relates to improvements in devices for furnishing measured quantities of disinfecting or deodorizing liquids to the tanks of water-closets or urinals.
One of theobjects of the invention is to provide a device controlled by the flow of water in the tank for causing a measured quantity of the disinfecting or deodorizing fluid to be deposited in said tank.
Another object of the invention is to provide a fluid feeding apparatus of the above type controlled by air pressure which enters the fluid reservoir each time the measured quantity of fluid is discharged into the tank.
With the foregoing objects outlined and with other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds the invention consists in the novel features hereinafter described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a front view partly in section of my improved device.
Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.
In the drawing, 1 represents a small pipe which is located within a reservoir 2 and extends diametrically of one of the end 'walls of said reservoir. From the drawing it will be seen that the reservoir is of cylindrical shape and has solid ends provided with pintles 2 carried in bearings forming part of hangers 11 which engage the upper edge of the closet tank. The reservoir is provided with an aperture closed by a cap 2 and when the cap is removed the tank may be charged with the disinfecting or deodorizing fluid.
The normal position of the reservoir is shown in the drawings and it will be seen that the upper end of the pipe 1 is located in the upper part of the reservoir while the lower end of said pipe 1 is bent as shown at l and extends outwardly through one end of the reservoir 2.
A small cup 3 adapted to contain a measured quantity of the fluid is provided on the lower portion of one end of the reservoir and fluid from said reservoir flows into the cup through an aperture 4. When sufficient fluid has entered the cup 3 to cover the lower end 1 of the pipe l the entrance of atmospheric air to the interior of the reservoir will be discontinued and the vacuum thus created in the upper portion. of the reservoir will prevent further fluid from flowing through the aperture 1 into the cup 3.
A float 5 designed to rest on the liquid in the closet tank 8 is connected to the upper portion of the reservoir by means of a chain 6 and when the liquid level in the closet tank descends the float 5 will fall and cause the reservoir pintles to rock in their bearing, and as the cup 3 is moved in a clockwise direction its contents will be emptied into the closet tank.
A weight 7 is secured to one end of the reservoir for normally holding the same in the position shown in the drawing but this weight is not heavy enough to prevent the float 5 from descending.
A stop pin 12 is fixed to one end of the reservoir and is designed to engage one of the hangers 11 to limit the tipping movement of the reservoir. 1
lVhen the fluid has been emptied from the cup 3, fluid from the reservoir will flow slowly through the aperture 4 to refill the cup and this feeding of the fluid will be permitted by atmospheric air entering the lower end of the tube 1 and passing upwardly to the upper portion of the interior of the reservoir. When sufiicient fluid has entered the cup the lower end 1 of the tube will be sealed by the fluid in the cup and this will automatically cut off the further feed of fluid through the aperture 4:.
It will be understood, of course, that the aperture 1 will be made sufficiently small to regulate the flow of the fluid in accordance with the rise of water in the closet tank so that said cup will not be filled until the float 5 has ascended to its highest position.

W hat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination with a flushing tank, I
of a reservoir mounted in the same, a float secured to the reservoir and adapted to be actuated by liquid in the tank for tipping said reservoir, a cup receiving fluid from said reservoir, and means controlled by the fluid fed to said cup for cutting off the flow of fluid to the cup.
2. A combination as defined in claim 1 in which the last named means includes an open ended pipe.
3. A combination as defined by claim 1 in which the last named means includes an open ended pipe having one of its ends arranged in the reservoir and its other end arranged in said cup.
4:. A combination as defined in claim 1 in which the reservoir is pivotally mounted.
5. The combination with a closet tank, of an air-tight cylindrical reservoir adapted to contain disinfecting or deodorizing fluid, means for pivotally mounting the ends of said reservoir, a cup carried by the reservoir, means placing the interior of said res ervoir and said cup in communication to permit fluid in the reservoir to flow into said cup, a pipe having one of its ends located in In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
