REVERSIBLE CHAIR.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 14., 1920.
Application filed September 12, 1919. Serial No. 323,256.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK S. PASCOE, a citizen of the United States,-and a resident of Cristobal, Canal Zone, Isthmus of Panama, have invented a new and Improved Reversible Chair, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in chairs, and more particularly to a chair designed for use by a small child, an object of the invention being to provide a device of the character stated which is reversible,so that when it is in one position it functions as a small rocking chair, and when in the inverted position functions as an auxiliary seat for an ordinary dining chair to provide in effect, a high chair.
A further object is to provide a device of the character stated which when in use on a chair and in position against a table, is securely held, and possibility of accident reduced to a minimum.
A further object is to provide a combina tion rocking chair and auxiliary chair seat, which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonably low price, and which will most efficiently perform the functions for which it is intended.
With these-and other objects in view, the
invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
g In the accompanying drawings:
1 Figure 1; is a perspective view showing the device in position on a chair to form'a hi h chair.
ig. 2 is a perspective view illustrating my inproved device in position for use as a rocking chair.
Fig. 3 is a view in vertical longitudinalipction, theview being on the line 2-2 of 1 1,represent the side members of my improved chair, having a curved lower edge 2 and extensions 3 at its edges forming rockers 4.
The sides are connected by a seat 5 and by two inclined backs 6 and 7 projecting respectively above and below the seat 5.
Relatively flat arms 8 are'secured to the upper edges of the sides, and strips 9 and 10 are secured to the front and rear edges respectively, of the sides 1, and project beyond the outer face of the sides 1, 1, for a purpose which will hereinafter appear.
The chair is constructed preferably of wood and is preferably made plain to prevent the formation of crevices to catch particles of food, but it is obvious that it might be variously ornamented and might be of various materials other than woo I 11 represents an ordinary dinin chair, and as shown in Fig. 3, when the evice is to be used as a chair seat to form a high chair, it is inverted and rests on the arms 8.
The device is thus held against movement in any direction andis ractical nil.
hile I have illustrated and described what I believe to be a preferred embodiment of my invention it is apparent that various slight changes might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precisev details set forth but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
I claim r A reversible chair, comprising sides, a
seat connecting the sides, a pair of backs possibility of accident secured to the sides and projecting above and below the seat, fiat arms on the upper ends of the sides, extensions on the edges of the sides at their lower end, and strips secured to the front and rear edges of the sides and projectin be ond the sides.
I RA K srAsoon.
