To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Gnonon F. Sisnownn, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, and LOUIS E. PITTONI, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and use- :tul Improvements in Foldable Hammock- Stands, the following being a full, clear, and eXact disclosure of the one form of our invention which we at present deem preferable.
For a detailed description of the present form of our invention, reference may be had to the following specification and to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of our device;
Fig. 2 shows it folded and Figs. 3 and 4: show details.
Our invention comprises two upright posts A and A hinged near their bottoms to a horizontal connecting rod C, and, when unfolded retained in position by a detachable ridge-pole B. Each post has a laterally-extending folding base D formed by bars CZ, (Z jointed to a short central bar al which is riveted to the foot of the post. The base is folded by means of links E, E be tween the bars (Z, d respectively and a slide F on the post, the slide F being operated by means of a bar G interposed between it and the rod C, so that the folding or unfolding of the post with respect to bar C, will also fold or unfold the bars (2, d with respect to the post as appears in Figs. 1 and 2. By lifting off the ridge-pole B, which acts as a spreader-bar the posts and bases may be folded up as shown in Fig. 2, while by unfolding the posts as shown in Fig. l'and applying pole B, the stand is ready for use.

1. A folding hammock stand comprising two upright posts each having its lower end provided with a foldable base, a connecting rod hinged to said posts near the bot toms thereof above said bases, a detachable ridge pole for uniting the upper ends of said posts, and an operating bar for each base actuated by a movement of the upright.
2. In a folding hammock stand, the combination with a foldable upright post, of a foldable base therefor, a slide movable on said post and connected with said base, and means actuated by folding movement of the post for operating the slide to adjust said ase.
3; A folding hammock stand comprising two upright posts each having its lower end provided with a foldable base, a connecting rod jointed to said posts near the bottoms thereof above said bases, a detachable ridge pole for uniting the upper ends of said posts, and operating devices for said bases connected with said connecting rod, whereby folding of the post on the rod will also fold the base.
4. A folding hammock stand comprising two upright posts each having its lower end provided with a foldable base, a connecting rod jointed to said posts near the bottoms thereof above said bases, slides mounted on said posts and operatively connected with the respective bases, links operatively conneoting said slides with said connecting rod, and a detachable ridge rod for uniting the upper ends of said posts.
