To all inkom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK MUN- Ron, a citizen of the United States, residing Jat Huntington, in the county of Suffolk,
L. I., State of New York, have invented a new and useful Safety-Razor; and I do hereby declare the-following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such vas will enable others skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in safety razors, and has for its object to provide a device of this character which embodies novel features of construction whereby the blade is held securely in position when the razor is in use, although it can be quickly released when desired.
Further 'objects of the invention 'are to provide a device of this character which is simple and inexpensive in its construction,
which can be easily manipulated, which is not liable to break or get out of repair, and which has no finey or delicate parts which -will' be destroyed by rust or corrosion.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel combina# tions and arrangements of the parts as will .more fully appear as" the description proceeds, the novel features thereof being pointed out in the appended claims. f-

The wings 5 of the base each have a tongue stamped therefrom, said tongues being bent upwardly and shaped to provide oppositely facing hooks 9. The blade`7 is provided withl openings 10 corresponding to the hook members 9 and adapted to lreceive the same wheny -the spring arms 4 are flexed to sprlng the wings 5 toward each other. Similar openings 11 are provided in the capplate 8, and

ing to take upvany looseness and prevent f any possible play. After the razor blade and cap plate. have been properly positioned upon the wings 5, the spring arms 4 are released a'nd permitted to move apart, whereupon the hook members 9 are brought into a positive engagement with the cap plate 8,
the noses of the hook members riding upon the inclined sides of the ribs 12 and coperating therewith to provide a .cam action which insures that the cap plate and razor lio .blade will be tightly clamped in position.
' The parts can then be quickly and -thoroughly cleansed and adull blade replaced by a sharp blade whenever necessary.
A slight modification is shown by Figs. 3 and 4, 1n which the handle and stock have an integral construction, being formed from the same piece of sheet metal.` The sheet metal blank from which the handle and stock are formed is doubled upon itself at its middle point, providing spaced and substantially parallel side Lbars 14 which are sufficiently long to provide a handle and have the edge portions thereof curved inwardly toward each other at 145* to provide rounded sides for the handle. The spring arms 4", corresponding to the spring arms 4 of the previous construction, are continuat1ons of the upper ends of the side bars 14, and carry the wings 5, exactly as in the previous instance. A cross bar 15 may connect the upper ends of the side bars 14 to provide a rigid constructionfor the handle, although the spring arms 4a are flexible and adapted to be moved toward each other as previously described. The blade 7 and cap plate 8 are held in position by the hook members 9a of the wings 5, and these hook members may have the nose portions thereof curved so as to spring over the ribs 12 of the cap plate 8. rIhis interlocking connection between the ribs and the hook members may be advantageous in some instances, since it would tend to prevent any possibility of the parts becoming accidentally disengaged.
A further modification is shown by Fig. 5, 1n which the cap plate 8 is entirely omitted and the blade 7c initially curved and shaped to fit against the wings 5 of the stock. The cutting edges 7l of the blade are positioned over the guard teeth 6 of the stock, as in the previous instance, and a pair of longitudinally extending ribs 15 are pressed out- Wardly from the razorblade 7 These ribs 15 have a spaced and parallel relation' to the cutting edges thereof and serve as guards to .protect the face and prevent the .ends of the hook members 9 v-ifrom scratching the skin'. The hook members .9 operate exactly as: in the previous instance to hold the 'razor blade in position, although they engage the razor blade directly instead of the, cap plate. The razor blade is adapted to be applied to the stock or removed therefrom by flexing the spring arms 4 inwardly to disengage the hook members 9 from the razor blade, and with this modified construction there are really but two parts -to the razor so that the construction thereof is simplified as much as possible.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A safety razor including a stock formed with a base and spaced spring arms'projecting from the base, the outer ends of the spring arms being l'iexible toward and away from each other and being provided with corresponding lateral `wings which extend in opposite directions and have guard teeth at their` outer ends, oppositely facing hook members projecting from the wings, a wafer blade adapted to lit against the wings and formed with openings through which the hook members are insertible when the Spring arms are moved toward each other, and cam means coperating with the hook members to clamp the blade tightly vagainst the wings when the spring arms are released and permitted to expand into operative position.
2. A safety razor including a stock formed with a base and spaced spring arms projecting from the base, the outer ends of the arms being movable toward and away from each other and terminating in lateral' wings which project in opposite directions and have guard teeth at their outer edges, oppositely facing hook members pro]ect1ng from the wings, a wafer blade fitted against the wings and formed with openings through which the hook members are insertible when the spring arms. are moved toward each other, and ribs projecting outwardly ,from the blade and having a cam action with the noses of the hook members to clamp the blade in position when the arms are released and permittedto spring apart.
