New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Metal Window-Frames, of which the following is a specification. A
The invention relates to metal, windowframes, and consists in the construction set forth, whereby moisture entering the hollow jambs is drained to a concavity on the front side of the sill.
This application is a division of my aplication Serial No. 131,060, filed Novemer 13, 1916.
In the accompanying drawin Figure 1 is a vertical section 0 frame containing my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar section of the lower portion of the frame and sill on the line 2, 2 of Fig. 4. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of one side of the frame, with parts broken away and end section on the line 3, 3 of Fig. 1 Fig. 4 is a horizontal section on the line 4, 4 of Fig. 1.

The frame members comprise a metal sill A, two hollow jambs B, C resting thereon, and a box lintel D on said jambs. In the inner wall of each jamb are two parallel vertical slots E, F. On the vertical side rails 'of each of the sashes G, H are laterally projecting metal plates said jamb openings. cured extension plates to the outer wall 8 of the jamb. In front of the flange there is a concavity 35*, and at each end of said concavity is a wall 36. The bottom '37 of the concavity is outwardly and downwardly inclined. Hence any moisture accumulating in the jamb's is drained into the pockets 38, and thence escapes to the inclined bottom 37 of the concavity, and so over the outer edge thereof. The pockets receive the lower ends of plates J, L. plate 39 on the bottom rail of the lower sash, when said sash is in closed position, forms a joint with the flange 3 5.
From the foregoing it Willbe seen that I here provide for draining moisture accumulated in the jambs to the inclinedgsill bottom.
I claim: 1. A metal'windowframe comprising hollow jambs and a sill form with end walls side extending longitudinally between said walls, the said end walls having vertical openings communicating with the space inclosed by said jambs, whereb moisture accumulated in said 'ambs is rained intosaid concavity.
2. metal window-frame, comprising hollow jambs, a sill, an upwardly extending longitudinal flange on said sill, and, in front of said flange and adjacent thereto, end walls, and a concavity extending lon- 'tudinall between said walls and having a ownwar ly and outwardly inclined bottom, the said end walls having vertical openings immediately in front of said flange and communicating with the space inclosed.
