Texas, have.invented certain new and useful. Im rovements in Garden-Hose Holders, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to a new and useful 1o garden hose holder, and its object is to provide a device that will support the nozzle or discharge end of a garden hose, holding the same adjustable at various heights, and making the stream of water adjustable in a direction ,either in a horizontal or vertical lane.

A. further object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described, that Will be strong, durable, simple and efiicient and comparatively easy to construct.

WVith these and various other objects in view, our invention bas relation to certain novel eatures of the construction and use, an example of which is described in the following specification and is illustrated in the acoompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a view showing our complote device in side elevation. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional vievv, the section being taken upon the line m of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view taken upon the line yy of Fig. 1.

Referring now -more particularly to the drawing, wherein like reference characters designate similar parts in all the figures, the numeral 1 denotes a vertical rod or pipe,

Which has its lower end threaded to enter a socket formed in the top of a.sharp pointed spike 2. From the upper end of the spike 2 a spur 3 projects laterally a short distance and terminates in a downwardly turned ,sharp pointed extremity. The upper portion of the member 1 is passed through the eye 4 of an eye-bolt 5, the threaded portion of which projects horizontally from the member 1. Upon the bolt 5 are carried two collars 6 and 7 which are clamped against each other and against the member 1 by a wing-nut 8. The collar 6 comprises two portions A and B, the former bemg rectangnlar and the latter cylindrical. "1he portion A of the member 6 is formed with a vertical V-shaped handle- 9, the Wall of Which bears against the member 1 when the all such modifications and changes as propwmg-.nut 8 is screwed tight against the rnembr 7. The portion A of the member 6 15 furthermore formedwith a horizontally elongated recess 10 within which a portion .of the eye 4 is redessed. Thus it is seen that the'member 6 is restricted against rotation about either a horizontal axis established by the bolt 5 or the vertical axis established by the member 1.

The member 7 is semi-cylindrkfial at its bottom and rectangular at its top, its upper portion being somewhat enlarged as indicated at 12. The portion 12 of the member 7 is formed with a channel 13 extending transversely of the bolt 5 and within this channel there is secured by means of a screw 14 a spring clip 15 open at its top and compr1sing a pair of arcuate upwardly projecting members between which the nozzle or discharge end of a hose may be engaged as indicated at 15.

When the nutwing 8 is screwed tight against the member 7, the parts 1, 6 and 7 are maintained in a fiXed relation. When the nut-wing 8 is loosened, all of the parts 4 to 16 inclusive may be vertically adjusted relative to the rod l. Also the wing nut 8 being loose, it is possible to swing said part about the vertical axis established by the bolt 5. Ths it is apparent that by means-s5 of our hose holder, a Stram of water may be directed from the hose in any desired direction and at any angle relative to the ground.

In a device of the oharacter described, the combination With an elongated vertical supporting member, of an eye-bolt projecting horizontally frorn said member, said member being passed through the eye of said bolt, a pair of collars mounted upon the eye-bolt, one of Which is adjacent to the vertical member and is formed With a groove receiving said member and with a recess receiving a portion of the eye of the bolt, .a clamping nut adapted to engage the two collars in a rigid relation with the vertical member and bolt, anda spring clip rigidly securedto the collar farthest removed from the vertical member and adapted to engage a nozzle or hose. v v v 2.
