Be it known that 1, GEORGE BROWN, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Bayonne, in the county of lHudson and Sta-te of New Jersey, have invented a new and 1mproved 1 `iltering1)ress, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to filtering presses, and has reference more particularly to a press whereby wax can be separated from mineral oils.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, strong, inexpensive, and eiiicient filtering press whereby wax'can be separated from oil continuously, and not periodically as is done now.
With the above and other objects in view, the nature of which will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as herein fully described, illustrated and claimed.
In the' accompanying drawings,.forming part of the application, similar characters of reference indicate correspondingparts in ally the views.

line S, Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a vertical cross section on line 1 4, Fig. 1; Fig. 5 is an enlarged plan view of a fragment of a drip plate; and Fig. 6 is a fragmentary section of the head provided with removable brealo ers.
Referring to the drawings, 7 is the base of the press and 8 is the head secured to the base at the margin by bolts 9. The head 8 is in the shape of a dome of elongated form and is narrower in width at the oil inlet 1() provided at the upper portion of the head. The width of the dome increases from the inlet end 10 toward the middle of the dome where it continues substantially uniform in width` but the depth thereof slightly decreases: then it abruptly decreases in Width to reach the outlet end 11 from the dome.
Positioned within the dome, between the inlet end and the Wider portion thereof, are breakers 12. which can be movable or staY tionary, as shown in the drawings. It will be noted that every other breaker is spaced from the top of the dome and has a rounded end thereat; while the lower end of each of the second breakers is beveled, the inclination being directed toward the inlet. The purpose of this will appear hereinafter. By
providing the. breakers, the oil entering 6o l sition by the bolts connecting the dome to the base. Positioned below the fabric on the base is a perforated plate 14, which is preferably recessed ina dripping plate 15 formv` ing an integral part of the base. The drip-A ping plate. comprises a plurality of pei-fora tions 15 interconnected at the surface where the perforated plate 14 is provided by grooves or channels 16 extending over lthe dripping plate. The base 7 is hollowed out below the dripping plate to form a.'receptacle 17 having a beveled bottom to collect the liquid at one end of the base where an outletI 18 from the hollow part is provided. The base 7 has also an opening 19, prefer ably elbow shape, registering with the out let 11 in the dome and forming a continuaQ tion of the outlet 11.
The oil from which the wax is to be sep arated is forced under pressure through the inlet 10 into the dome. The oil pressed upon the fabric passes through the, perforated plate on to the dripping plate, and from there it enters into the hollow 17 of the base and iows out through the outlet 18. The
wax particles which adhere to the fabric are gradually forced by the oil toward the outlet end 11 of the dome, whereat the base iS provided with a smooth part 11 to facilitate the movement of the wax to the outlet 11 after leaving the fabric, and wherethrough the wax, and the oil that did not pass through the fabric, find their outlet and are delivered through the opening 19 to any suitable conduit 20, which conveys the Wax with the oil to a suitable receptacle, not Shown in the drawings.
To facilitate the cleaning of the press without taking the saine apart, a steamvcoil 21 is provided within the wide part of the dome, and a steam passage Q2 is provided within each of the breakers 12. Steam can be supplied to the. coil and the passage by conduits 23 and whereby the dome and the 'breakers can be heated; and by sending a suitable solvent through the inlet- 10 the fabric and the dome wi l be thoroughly cleaned.
