Description

GERHARDT, OF HAZLETON, PENNSYLVANIA.
SHIRT.
Y Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J an. 11, 1916.
@pira-.rien aise ein 2, 1914. serial No. scapa.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known'that HENRY Geminiani?, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hazleton, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Shirt, of which the follow ing is a full, clear,'and exact description.
My invention relates to shirts, and has reference more particularly to shirt which will not pull out or' the trousers of the wearer. It is a well known fact that shirts will pull out of the belt band ci trousers, and to obviate this, the shirt manufacturers abroad, for example, make the tails of their shirts very long, and these long tails become wound about the legs of the wearer and not only make him. uncomfortable but interfere with his movements and distorts the shape of his trousers. In the United States, for the sake of the comfort of the wearer, the shirts are substantiallytailless, and thus they continually pull out. To obviate the above objections, I have designed a shirt -which will not pull out of the trousers,
which will leave the legs free and therefore not interfere with the movements of the wearer, and which is convenient and simple in structure. l attain the above object by the shirt illustraten in the accompanying drawings forming a part of the specification, in which drawings similar characters of reference indicate. corresponding parts in all the views and wherein- Figure'l is a perspective view of a shirt embodying my invention illustrating the saine as worn; Fig. 2 is a fragment of the lower portion oic the shirt seen from the front when the saine is open; Fig. is a, similar view from the rear orn the shirt; Fig. d is a front elcifation of a lower ragment of the shirt showing the tail secured to the front; and F ig. 5 is an enlarged section on line :3M-5, Fig. fl.
Referring to the drawings, G represents a shirt, the back 7 of which is provided with j a triangular extension 8 forming the taill of vthe shirt, which extension is prefer- `,ably integral .with the rear blank of the Y shirt. The end or the apeX'o the triangular 505' extension is refer-abb7 rounded and a iiao 9 is secured to the tail from the inner side' 'adjacent the apex, so that the` end or fue -ipextends slightly below the ariernr The a'p is preferably triangular in shape and the shirt by any suitable means. As shown in the drawing, the tail is provided with buttons 10 which are engageable by buttonhole's 12 formed 'for tha't purpose in they lower portion of the front blanks'll. When the front blank of the -shirt is of a single piece, z'. e., the shirt is not 'a coat shirt,
the securing means will be positioned atv the center of the lower vend of the front blank, whereby'the tail 8 will be secured thereto in a similar way to that shown in Figs. l and 4;. Y Y i The tail 8 forming -the extension of the rear blank 7 is secured to the front of the shirtafter the saine is on the wearer, as shown in Fig. 1. Thus the tail 8 is engaged between the legs of thel wearer and thereby will prevent the shirt from moving upward when the lwearer moveshis arms, bends himself, or moves his body in any other way which would ordinarily pull the shirt out of the trousers, It will also be noted from Fig. l that the legsofthe wearer remain' is to insure the connection' betweenlthe 'tail and the front of the shirt.
` Having thus described my invention,l I"
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
In ashirt, an extension tail of: substa'ny tially triangular form' eri-.ending mlthe rear. of the shirt, a triangular riapfsdured' to 'the tail adjacent the end and Lhavingna portion over-hanging the end of. theiitail,
and'securing means at the end ofthe tail.l and the overhangingend of 'tl-hef,flap'whereby;l -eacli or both mayabeured to the central.
part othe front-fof theshirt.
In testimony. whereoifhave signed my' naine to this specification.inr'thepreseuce of two subscribing witnesses;
HENRY GEHRDT. f :l TWitnesses:
