GAS-LIGHT FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 28,1912.
Original application filed November 10, 1910, Serial No. 591,736. Divided and this application filed February 23, 1911.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH MAAs, a citi- -zen of the United States, residing at Kalamazoo, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Gas-Light Fixtures; of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to gas light fixtures, and is especially intended for use in connection with a cluster of inverted incandescent mantles. Its object is to provide a fixture of this character improved in certain respects hereinafter set forth, and which shall be eflicient in service and simple in construction and operation. This object is attained by, and my invention finds an embodiment in, the structure hereinafter described and illustrated by the accompanying drawing, being a view of the interior parts of such a gas light fixture, the casing 7, globe 11 (the lower part of which is broken away), and certain parts being shown in vertical central section;
The gas is supplied through the supporting tube 1, its transverse portion 2 (having a shield 3 to prevent overheating), and down pipe 4, to the circular tube or gas ring 5, communicating with the several burner tubes 6, which turn over the top edge of, and down inside of, the flue or chimney 8. A suitable mantle support 19 carries the incandescent mantles 20, and has vertical rods 21 slidably guided in orificeslS through the curved bottom flange 22 of the chimney: these vertical rods have a cross bar 23 connecting their upper ends and perforated at Serial No. 610,418.
its middle to engage the shouldered sleeve 24 having a right angled slot as shown, whose horizontal arm'engages the pin 25 on the sleeves vertical guide rod 26, thereby retalnlng the mantle support in its highest position, as illustrated: but when the sleeve is turned by its handle 27, the vertical arm 28 of the slot releases the pin, allowing the mantle support to descend, as ma be deslred in order to attach or rep ace the mantles, etc.
This application is division 2 of my application Serial No. 591,736 filed November 10, 1910, thus divided as required by the Patent Oflice.
Not confining myself to the details of construction shown and described, I claim: In a gas light fixture, gas burners having incandescent'mantles, a mantle support for the mantles having upwardly-extending supporting rods, a transverse bar connecting the rods at their upper ends, a vertical supporting guide rod having a projecting pin, a sleeve rotatable and slidable on the guide rodand supporting the transverse bar at its middle and having a slot adapted in one rotary position of the sleeve to engage the pin and in another such position to release it.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOSEPH MAAs.
Witnesses: HARRY F. JoHNsoN,
