To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. PORTER,

a citizen of the United States, residing at off Hartford and Hartford, in the county State of Connecticut, have invented new and useful Improvements in of which the following is a specification.y

The invention relates generally to fountain brushes' and more especially of fountain blacking daubers for shoes or the like. A-

The primary ',object ofthe invention is the provision of a brush 'of this character in which the'blacking .paste will be delivered to the bristles lof the brush for the application of the said paste to foot-wear whereby the same may thus obviating the necessity of'soiling the hands when applying the blacking to the foot-wear.

. Another object ofthe invention is the provision of a brush of this character -in which the blacking fluid or substance is held within a reservoir carried upon the stock of the brushgso that said fluid o r substance may be dispensed into the bristles of the brush for the applying thereof to footwear the reservoir being formed from compressible metal thus permitting the fluid or substance to be ejected therefrom as the occasion requires.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a Abrush in which ,the bristles thereof are confined within a removable cap thus preventing the accumulation of dust and dirt thereon when the said brush is not in use.

A still furtherobject of the invention is the provision of a brush of this char. acter which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable andl eiiicientin operation, and inexpensive in manufacture.-

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and 'arrangement of parts as wil1 be hereinafter more fully described, illusdrawings and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
