Description
.liaitrd Startet M. T. GLIMSDAL, OF 4ROCKFORI), ILLINOIS.
Letters Patent No. 101,608, dated April 5, 1870.
The' Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all 'whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, M. T. GLIMSDAL, of Rockford, in the county of Winnebago, and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brick-Molds; and do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had tothe accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification. v
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a hrick-mold, as will be hereinafter fnlly'set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will` now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Y Figure 1 is a view of the under side ofthe mold;
Figure 2 is a transverse vertical section of the same;
Figure 3 is a side view of one of the partitions in the mold; and
Figure 4 is an enlarged `perspective view of one of the arms which operate the bottom of the mold,
Arepresents the frame of the mold, made of any desired size, and provided with transverse partitions B B, placed equal distances apart. f
'Ihese partitions extend up to the `upper surface of the frame, and a suitable distance below the lower edge, where they are firmly secured by metal bands a a.
Each of the chambers or molds thus formed has `a movable bottom, C, operated in the following manner: r Through the lower edges at or about the center of the partitions B B, and running longitudinally across the frame, are two rods D D, provided with a handle, E, at one end, there being one such handle at each end of the frame.
To the rods D D are secured arms G G, provided with wings H H at their outer ends, said Wings being slotted as shown in fig. 4.
held by a screw passing through their slotinto the bottom, allowing, however, the wings to slide the distance of the slot..
By turning the handles E E in opposite directions,
it will be seen that the bottoms C G will be raised up to the upper edge of the frame A, discharging the brick contained therein.
Another method ofso raising, and of course also lowering, the bottoms, is by means of bent levers I I.
Each of these levers is pivoted in the lower edge of one of the partitions B, and extends beyond the end of the molds.
The inner ends of the lever I are placed under hooks or projections on the arms G G, one on each side, so that by the use of said` levers all the bottoms can be operated at once, for the force applied to one arm is, ot' course, communicated to all the arms ou lthat side through the medium of thc rod to which they are secured.
Having thus fully described my invention,
-\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The rods D D, provided with arms G G, and slotted wings H II, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination of the frame A, partitions B B, bottoms C G, rods D D, with or without the handles E E, the arms G G, and the wings H H, all constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the'purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of December, 1869.
' M. T. GLIMSDAL.
