Description
UNITED .STATES Aralar OFFICE/l HENRY HAED'RICH AND EDVARD M. HAEDRICH, OF III'ILADELPIIIA, PA.
IMPROVEMENT VIN oo MBINEu Meneses-o5 ANn'BooT.
Speelieation'forniing parl'. of Letters Patent No. 105,566, dated Jnly`19, ISIO.
OaZZu/hbm'it mayconcern: i
'v Beit known that we, HENRY G. HAEDRICH and Env/'Ann M. HAEDRIUH, of Philadelphia, 'Qin the county oi' Philadelphia and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented certain Vnew and "useful Improvements -in Combined, Horseshoe and Boot; and we dohereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact ,description -thereo'f, referenee being had to the aceompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon', which forni a part of this specification.
.The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of ya combinedV horseshoe and boot, substantially as hereinafter .set forth. f
In orderto enable others skilled -in the art to which our invention appertai-ns to make and use the san1ewe. will now proceed to describeits construction and operation,`-refer ring to the annexed drawings in which- Figure lis a side elevation; Fig. 2, a longitudinal vertical section, and Fig. 3 aplan view of our improved shoe.
A represents a horseshoe of any suitable' construction, providedon each sideof itstoe with a flange, B, to the upper end of which is hinged a piece, C Tliispieee extends upward about as far as a horseshoe-boot generally does, and`\is on its outer side near the top'provided withaloop, e.
We do'not confine ourselves to .any particular number `of these Phinged pieces C C,A as #there may be one, two, or more,
V number,`oneis1to heplaeedwatthe toe and an If an" odd equal number onl each` side thereof.
`On each side 'of the heel of the shoe is an vupatrial-19rojeetingfpiece, 4D, which may be `either stationary on or hinged to the shoe, and V is provided with a vertical slot, b, near its rear edge, and a horizontal slot, d, at its upper edge. The flanges B B or pieces D D may be so attached to the shoe as to be moved backward or forward. f
A shoe wovided with the pieces C and 'D/ may be attached to ythe hoof either with or 'ivithout a boot. `Vlien'with thelboot E, the
boot is constructed and attached tothe shoe in precisely the -same manner as descnil'led'in l'a patent recently issued to us. One strap, G,
passes through the loops a a and through the.
slots `l) b., and fastened below the concave portions of the boot. Another strap, II, also passes'throngh the loops a, a, and in and out ofi-the boot near its upper edge, and isfastened immediately above the concave-parts of the shoe, as shown. When the shoe E is not used, then in addition to the straps G II another strap, I, is employed, which strap is fastencdin the slot d, on oneof the heehpieces D', andbu'ckle'd into a buckle attached to the other heelfpiecc. 'By this means the shoe is iirinly secured tothe hoof.
Weintcnd using;P a shoe which is hinged either at tne toe or sides, although the same improvements may be attached to a shoe without joints.
. Having'thus fully described our invention,
what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The horseshoe A7 provided upon each side of its front center with Iianges B B, to which are hinged the pieces C C, all constructed and arranged to operate as and for the 'purpose set forth.
2. The side pieces, D I), ofshoc A, provided with slots b d, in combination with straps G vand I, all arranged as' and for the purpose described. y 3. The combination of the shoe A, one or more pieces, C, pieces D D, shoe E, and straps G H, all arranged substantialiy as shown and 4. The combination of the shoe A, one or more pieces, C, pieces D D, and straps G, II, and I, all substantially as'shown and described.
y In testimony that we claim the foregoing.,r as
