Abstract

The present invention provides a smoking article (100), which includes a tobacco rod (104) and a mouthpiece (101). The mouthpiece (101) includes at least one section and a wrap that covers at least one section along the circumference and defines a cavity (106) located at the end that is inserted into the mouth. The mouthpiece (101) is arranged coaxially with the tobacco rod (104) and has a rod edge adjacent to the tobacco rod (104) and an end that inserts into the mouth opposite to this rod edge. One or more mark (s) is affixed (s) to the inner surface of the portion of the wrapper that defines the cavity (106) located at the end that is inserted into the mouth. A method of manufacturing mouthpieces and smoking articles of the present invention is also provided.

Description

This invention relates to a smoking article which includes a wrapper which forms a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth and has one or more indicia(s) applied to the inner surface of this cavity located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth. This invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such a smoking product.

Various types of smoking products are known, including certain smoking products in which the smoking material is burned and other non-burning smoking products in which no combustion occurs. As an example of a burnt smoking product, filter cigarettes typically include a cylindrical filter positioned end-to-end with a wrapped tobacco rod, said filter being attached to said tobacco rod with a rim paper. In such filter cigarettes, the filter may consist of a length of rod of fibrous filter material such as adethylcellulose tow wrapped in a porous rod wrapper. Typically, the wrapped tobacco rod and the filter are connected by a rim wrapper, which is usually formed from a strip of paper material that surrounds the filter and the adjacent part of the wrapped tobacco rod along the perimeter along the entire length.

As an example of unburned smoking products, several smoking products are known in which the tobacco is heated instead of burned. In heated smoking products, the aerosol is formed by heating a flavoring substrate such as tobacco. Known heated smoking products include, for example, electrically heated smoking products and smoking products in which the aerosol is formed using the transfer of heat from a burned fuel cell or heat source to a physically separated aerosol-forming material. During smoking, volatile compounds are released from the aerosol-forming substrate as a result of heating, and are captured by the air sucked through this smoking product. As the released compounds cool, they condense to form an aerosol that is inhaled by the consumer. As another example of a non-burning smoking product, smoking products are known in which a nicotine-containing aerosol is formed from tobacco raw materials or another source of nicotine without combustion and without the introduction of heat, such as the products disclosed in M/O-A-2008/121610 and U/O-A -2010/107613. In smoking products of these types, a chemical source is used to create a nicotine-containing aerosol.

It has already been proposed to provide wrappers on smoking products that have graphics printed on them in order to give the smoking product a more aesthetically appealing appearance. Such printing may be a continuous repeating pattern covering all or part of the wrapper of the tobacco rod or the rim paper, or may be discrete marks or graphic images.

It would be desirable to provide a smoking article with indicia such as text, images, letters, words, logos, patterns, etc. applied using new methods. In particular, it would be desirable to provide a smoking article having graphics or markings applied in such novel ways without significantly affecting the overall dimensions of that smoking article.

Furthermore, it would also be desirable that such a smoking article could be assembled using conventional wrapping equipment and wrapping methods.

According to this invention, a smoking product is proposed, which includes a tobacco rod and a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece includes at least one section and a wrapper which circumferentially surrounds said at least one section and which defines a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth. The mouthpiece is located coaxially with the tobacco rod and has a bar end that is adjacent to the tobacco rod and an end opposite to this bar end that is inserted into the mouth. One or more mark(s) are applied to the inner surface of that part of the wrapper which defines the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth.

The formation of a cavity in the end that is inserted into the mouth increases the area for printing marks without the need to significantly increase the overall dimensions of the smoking product.

Marking on the inner surface of the cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth provides a significant visual impact on the consumer and provides the consumer with a distinctive product. In addition, the apparent surface area on the smoking product may be increased with only a limited effect on the filtration efficiency of the smoking product.

In a preferred embodiment, the tobacco rod of the present invention is made from tobacco raw materials intended for combustion to produce smoke, for example, in a cigarette or other combustible smoking product. Alternatively, the tobacco stick can be any aerosol-forming substrate that contains tobacco or other nicotine-containing substance. The mouthpieces of the present invention can be used in 60 filter cigarettes and other smoking products in which tobacco raw materials are burned to produce smoke that provides certain advantages. Mouthpieces according to this invention can also be used in smoking products, in which tobacco raw materials are heated instead of burned to produce smoke. Mouthpieces according to the present invention can also be used in smoking products in which nicotine-containing aerosol is formed from raw tobacco, tobacco extract or other source of nicotine without burning or heating.

The term "marks" is used to refer to a single printed element or repeating printed elements or patterns that provide an aesthetically pleasing image. Such marks may take the form of text, images, letters, words, logos, patterns, or combinations thereof. For example, markings on the inner surface of the cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth according to the present invention may include a trademark or manufacturer's logo, which allows the consumer to identify the type or origin of the smoking product. Alternatively, the markings may include a repeating printed element or pattern on the inner surface of the wrapping material. The markings may be generally aligned with the axis of the smoking article, may be generally perpendicular to the axis of the smoking article, or may be located at an angle to the axis of the smoking article, wherein the markings are positioned other than parallel or perpendicular. In addition, a certain number of smoking products sold together may have different markings. For example, smoking products may have two or more type(s) of markings in one package. In addition, the markings may be positioned to display a message, for example by using markings on adjacent smoking products in a package that are visible when the package is opened, where the visible markings form a word or collectively convey a message.

To form a cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth, the mouthpiece includes a section, such as a filter section or a section of other structure, the wrapper extends beyond the end of this section that is inserted into the mouth and forms a cavity located at the end that is inserted in the mouth The mouthpiece section may have an internal structure, such as a hollow cylinder, or may be a cavity-type filter, as described in more detail below.

The wrapper may extend beyond the end of this section which is inserted into the mouth by approximately 2-10 mm, and preferably by approximately 4-7 mm. Visible area

From the inner surface of the wrapper can be from about 50 mm? to about 250 mm", preferably from about 100 mm? to about 200 mm, and more preferably from about 100 mm: to about 175 mm.

The visible area of the inner surface of the wrapper may be at least about 595 of the total visible surface of the mouthpiece, and in a preferred embodiment, at least about 1095.

If the wrap material is a sheet material as described below, the specific gravity of the wrap material is preferably at least about 40 grams per square meter (g/m7), more preferably at least about 60 g/m", and in a most preferred embodiment is at least about 80 g/m. Alternatively or in addition, the specific gravity of the wrapping material in a preferred embodiment is less than about 160 g/m , in a more preferred embodiment, less than about 150 g/m2, and in a most preferred embodiment, less than about 140 g/m2. from about 40 g/m2 to about 160 g/m, more preferably from about 45 g/m to about 150 g/m, and most preferably from about 80 g/m2 to arrive zno 140 g/m-. In general, certain advantages are provided by using a wrapper material that is more rigid than that of known smoking products in order to reduce the possibility of deformation of the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth when the smoking product is smoked.

In addition to providing markings on the inner surface of the wrapper that defines the cavity located at the mouth end, such markings may be applied to the outer surface of the mouthpiece. If the markings are applied to the outer surface of the mouthpiece, they may be located only on the part of the mouthpiece that defines the cavity, or they may extend along the mouthpiece to the bar end of the mouthpiece. In certain embodiments of the present invention, the external markings may be applied to the outer surface of the wrapper, while in other embodiments of the present invention, the external markings may be applied to the external surface of the additional wrapping material, such as the rim wrap, which is described below.

The smoking product can have different cross-sectional shapes, including round, oval, elliptical, or egg-shaped cross-sectional shapes.

If the mouthpiece of the smoking products of the present invention includes a filter, the filter may be a single-section filter or may be a multi-section filter that includes two or more filter section(s) that are longitudinally connected . If two or more filter section(s) are provided, these filter sections may be of the same construction and include the same materials, but in a more preferred embodiment, they are of different constructions or include different filter sections. materials or impurities. In certain preferred embodiments of the present invention, the mouthpiece includes a multi-section filter that includes a filter section that includes filter material and particulate material dispersed over the filter material.

If the filter includes two or more section(s), these sections are usually wrapped in a rod wrapper. Any or all of said two or more sections may be individually wrapped in a rod wrapper. Said two or more section(s) may be connected by a connecting wrap for the rod, which connects these two or more section(s) end to end. Said connecting rod wrap may be a wrap that forms a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth as described above, or another wrap may be provided that is located around said connecting rod wrap and forms a cavity , located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth.

In a preferred embodiment, the filter material in the filter section is a length of string of fibrous filter material such as acetyl cellulose tow or paper. A filter material plasticizer may be applied to this fibrous filter material in a known manner by spraying it onto the separated fibers, preferably prior to applying the particulate material to the filter material.

Alternatively or in addition to the mentioned filter sections disclosed in this description, the multi-section filter may include a cavity at least partially filled with particulate material. In such embodiments of the present invention, the preferred cavity is located between two segments of the rod of filter material.

In a preferred embodiment, from about 4095 to about 10095 of the volume of said cavity is filled with particulate material, and in a more preferred embodiment, from about 6095 to about 8095 of the volume of the cavity is filled. Such filters with a cavity can be manufactured using known equipment and technologies for the production of carbon filters. According to one of these technologies, two segments of the rod of filter material are placed on the wrapping material with a gap between them. This space between them is at least partially filled with particulate material, after which the wrapper is wrapped around said rod segments, forming a cavity between the rod segments that is at least partially filled with particulate material. One of the technologies is disclosed in detail, for example, in EP-A-1,571,933. Equipment for these production methods is available from various sources. The material in the form of particles, included in the filter sections described above, may contain at least one sorbent capable of removing at least one component of the gaseous phase from the main stream of smoke, which is absorbed through the mentioned filter. In a preferred embodiment, this at least one sorbent is selected from the group consisting of activated carbon, carbon beads, activated aluminum, zeolites, sepiolites, molecular sieves, and silica gel.

Alternatively or in addition to the mentioned at least one sorbent, the material in the form of particles may include at least one flavoring substance.

For example, a flavoring substance in the form of particles may include particles of a sorbent or cellulosic material impregnated with a liquid flavoring agent. Alternatively, the flavoring substance in the form of particles may include particles of material of plant origin. The material of plant origin may take the form of plant leaves, as described in EP-A-1,958,523. For example, the filter section may include leaves of tobacco, green tea, peppermint, spearmint, laurel, eucalyptus, basil, sage, verbena, and tarragon. In addition, parts of mint plants can also be used.

The term "mint" refers to plants that belong to the genus Mepipa. Alternatively, the material of plant origin may take the form of seeds, roots, bark or flowers or combinations thereof, such as those commonly used as spices.

The smoking products of the present invention may include a plurality of filter sections of different types or combinations of filter sections, including filter sections of the types described above, as well as filter sections of other types known to those skilled in the art, such as sections that include restrictors , and sections that are used to adjust the suction resistance (CT).

In a first aspect of the present invention, a wrapper having one or more mark(s) is a rod wrapper. In this first aspect, the smoking article may also include a rim paper or rim wrapper that surrounds the mouthpiece and connects said mouthpiece and the tobacco rod. The liner paper may provide the advantage of increasing the stiffness of the cavity wall located at the end that is inserted into the mouth to reduce the possibility of deformation of the cavity during smoking. In a preferred embodiment, the rim wrap fully or partially covers that portion of the rod wrap that defines a cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth.

The lining paper can be made of cellulose paper sheet material, as in known cigarettes, while the consumer receives the texture and mouthfeel he is used to.

In the aforementioned first aspect of the present invention, the rod wrap having one or more mark(s) may extend part of the length of the mouthpiece from the mouthpiece end so that a portion of the mouthpiece at the bar end is not covered by said rod wrap. According to the preferred option, a ventilation zone is provided located on the part of the mouthpiece that is not covered by the rod wrap. This can improve ventilation through the smoking product. According to the preferred option,

The ventilation zone includes at least one row of through-perforation holes located along the circumference, made in the rim paper. This provides ventilation to the smoking product so that the main stream of smoke mixes with the surrounding air during smoking. From certain places along the length of the filter. If the rod wrap is essentially non-porous, then the absence of the rod wrap covering the mouthpiece portion provides certain advantages of allowing sufficient ventilation through the vent zone.

Alternatively, in the aforementioned first aspect of the present invention, the rod wrapper having one or more indicia(s) may extend the entire length of the mouthpiece so that the entire mouthpiece, including the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth, is covered by the wrapper rod In yet another alternative embodiment of the present invention, if the mouthpiece includes at least one filter section, the rod wrap is designed to extend along the entire length of the filter section(s).

If the mouthpiece includes a filter, in a preferred embodiment, the perforations are provided at a distance of from about 9 mm to about 20 mm from the end of the filter that is inserted into the mouth. According to a more preferred option, the perforation holes are made at a distance of approximately 12 mm from the end of the filter that is inserted into the mouth. This can prevent the user's lips from blocking or covering the perforation holes while smoking.

In yet another aspect of the present invention, one or more mark(s) may be applied to the inner surface of the rim paper that surrounds said mouthpiece. In addition to the rim paper, a substantially transparent wrap may be provided in the form of a rod wrap that circumferentially surrounds the filter section(s) as described above. Thus, said one or more mark(s) on the rim paper are visible through the substantially transparent wrapping of the rod.

The term "substantially transparent" is used to describe a material that transmits at least a significant portion of incident light so that the material can be seen through. In the present invention, the substantially transparent wrapper transmits an amount of light sufficient to allow the markings on the rim paper to be visible through the wrapper. Said substantially transparent wrapper may be completely transparent. Alternatively, said substantially transparent wrapper may have a lower level of transparency while still transmitting an amount of light sufficient for said indicia to be visible through said wrapper.

The thickness of the substantially transparent wrapper is in a preferred embodiment at least about 25 microns, in a more preferred embodiment, at least about 35 microns, and in a most preferred embodiment,

approximately 40 μm. Alternatively or in addition, this thickness is preferably less than about 110 µm, and more preferably less than about 80 µm. The thickness of said substantially transparent wrapper is preferably from about 25 microns to about 110 microns, in a more preferred embodiment from about 35 microns to about 110 microns, and in a most preferred embodiment, - from about 40 μm to about 80 μm. The specific gravity of the substantially transparent wrapper is preferably at least about 40 g/m, more preferably from about 40 g/m to about 80 g/m, and the greatest advantage is from about 40 g/m? to about 60 g/m". Materials acceptable for use as the substantially transparent wrapper of the smoking products of the present invention include, but are not limited to, cellophane, cellulose diacetate, and polypropylene. Acceptable intrinsically transparent materials of various grades, with various values of thickness and specific gravity, are commercially available from various sources. For example, Ippomia riYit5C. and SiIagioiYi produce many different types and grades of such materials.

The smoking products of the present invention may be combustible smoking products such as filter cigarettes or other smoking products in which raw tobacco or other combustible material is burned to produce smoke. Alternatively, the smoking products of the present invention may be non-burnable smoking products. As an example, non-combustible smoking products may include a substance that is heated instead of burned to create an aerosol.

In one of the smoking products that undergoes heating, the tobacco raw material or other aerosol-forming substance is heated using one or more electronic heating element(s) to create an aerosol. In another heated smoking product, the aerosol is formed by the transfer of heat from a combustible or chemical heat source to a physically separated aerosol-forming substance that may be located within, around, or downstream of the heat source.

Alternatively, the filters of the present invention can be incorporated into smoking products in which the nicotine-containing aerosol is generated from raw tobacco or other tobacco source without combustion and without heating, such as the products disclosed in UMO-A-2008/121610 and U/O-A- 2010/107613.

If the smoking product is non-combustible, the wrapper may be a tube that forms a cavity located at the end of the smoking product that is inserted into the mouth. For example, the wrapper can be a plastic tube. In addition, any internal elements within the tube may be integral with said tube, or may be placed and secured within said tube in some other manner.

The present invention also provides a method of manufacturing a mouthpiece for the smoking article disclosed herein. The method includes the following steps: providing a wrapper sheet with one or more indicia(s) applied thereto; providing a set of filter elements; positioning said filter elements on said wrapping sheet material such that said filter elements are spaced apart with one or more indicia(s) between two adjacent filter elements; wrapping said wrapper sheet material around a portion of the filter elements such that said wrapper sheet material forms a cavity located at the mouth end with indicia located in said cavity located at the mouth end. A mouthpiece made in this manner may then be cut through the mouthpiece cavity to create separate filters and expose the mouthpiece cavity.

In some embodiments of the invention, this method produces a mouthpiece that includes all the elements of more than one mouthpiece or filter. This is often called a multiple mouthpiece or multiple filter. If a multiple filter includes all the elements of two filters, it can be called a double filter. Other multiple filters are also made, such as quad filters.

Then the mouthpiece or filter can be combined with wrapped rods of tobacco or other types of aerosol substrate for smoking products. For example, in order to connect a mouthpiece and a tobacco rod to provide a composite smoking article, a rim wrapper may be provided which is wrapped around all or a portion of said mouthpiece and a portion of an adjacent tobacco rod. If multiple filters are used with this technology, then these multiple filters can later be cut through the part of the multiple filters that forms a cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth.

in order to create two or more finished smoking articles and to make accessible a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth. The joining of the mouthpiece or filter and the wrapped rods of tobacco or aerosol-forming substrate of other kinds can take place non-autonomously, or autonomously on a machine that is separate from the machine used to produce the parts that are inserted into the mouth of said mouthpieces.

Marks can be printed on the wrapper without gaps, and in such an embodiment of the present invention there is no need to locate the filter elements in a certain position relative to the applied marks. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the marks are printed discretely and spaced so that one or more mark(s) are placed in the cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth. In such an embodiment of the present invention, said wrapper and filter elements must be aligned so that the markings are visible in the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth. In a preferred embodiment, the position of one or more mark(s) is recorded using an optical device to enable each mark to be located in a specific position.

Markings on the mentioned wrapper can be printed non-autonomously or autonomously. The term "non-autonomous" is used to refer to the execution of said printing of marks as a step during the production of said mouthpiece or smoking article. The term "autonomous" is used to refer to performing said mark printing as a separate process. In the case of autonomous printing of marks, this process can be carried out with the use of separate equipment at the same production enterprise where the said mouthpiece or smoking product is manufactured. Alternatively, stand-alone markings can be printed using separate equipment located at a different location than the mouthpiece or smoking product.

This invention will be described below with reference to the attached figures, in which:

In Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a smoking article 100, which includes a filter section 102, a tobacco rod 104, and a cavity 106 located at the end that is inserted into the mouth. As shown, the cavity 106 located at the end that is inserted into the mouth has markings (in this particular example in the form of text) on its inner surface.

The text is oriented so that when the smoker holds the smoking product in a normal manner, the text can be read by the smoker. Similarly, if the marks are graphic or similar images, they are similarly oriented. The smoking product has a diameter of approximately 7.85 mm and a length of approximately 84 mm. The mouthpiece 101, which includes a cavity 106 located at the mouth end and a filter section 102, is approximately 32 mm long. The cavity located at the end that is inserted into the mouth is approximately 5 mm deep and approximately 7.45 mm in diameter. Thus, the inner surface area of the wrapper defining the cavity is approximately 117 mm", and the total surface area of the mouthpiece available for displaying indicia or similar images is 874 mm, or the inner surface area of the wrapper defining the cavity is approximately 1395 of total area of the visible surface of the mouthpiece.

In Fig. 2 shows one of the variants of the smoking product according to the present invention.

The smoking product includes a tobacco rod 104 or other aerosol-forming substrate that contains tobacco raw materials or a nicotine-containing substance, a mouthpiece 101 and a rim paper 202 used to connect the tobacco rod 104 to the mouthpiece 101. The mouthpiece 101 includes a cavity 106 located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth, which is defined by the wrapper 212, and the rim paper 202. The mouthpiece also includes two filter segments 204 and 206. Each filter segment is wrapped in a corresponding wrapper 208, 210 for the rod. Means of ventilation in the form of perforation holes 214 are made in the mouthpiece 101 above the flow of air from the cavity located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth. In such an embodiment of the present invention, the through perforations 214 are adjacent to the filter section 204 and are made through the rod wrapper 208, the wrapper 212 and the rim paper 202. Alternatively, if the rod wrapper 208 is porous, said through perforations can be made only through the wrapper 212 and the rim paper 202. Additionally, if the wrapper 212 is porous, the perforations can only be made 60 through the rim paper 202.

A cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth provides an internal surface area for markings intended to be displayed. These marks or similar images are applied to the inner surface of the wrapper 212.

Wrap 212 has a specific gravity of about 70 g/m? to provide rigidity sufficient so that the cavity 106 located at the end that is inserted into the mouth does not deform when the smoking article is smoked.

In Fig. C shows the inner surface of the wrapper 204 with discrete marks 300 printed as a repeating pattern. During the continuous production of the mouthpieces, the wrappers 212 with pre-printed markings on the sheet material place the filter sections wrapped in the rod wrapper to form a complete mouthpiece with a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth. The filter sections are placed on the wrapping sheet material so that each group of filter sections is spaced apart from adjacent groups, with marks located in the open space. Optical registration equipment may be used to ensure alignment of filter sections with marks. The production equipment is designed to be able to cut the mouthpieces into sets of two mouthpieces. Each set of two mouthpieces is connected at the end, which is inserted into the mouth. The length of this dual mouthpiece is acceptable for use in standard cigarette manufacturing equipment.

The tobacco rod is placed coaxially with the mouthpiece on the edge of the mouthpiece, which is opposite to the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth, and attached to said mouthpiece with rim paper. The liner paper and wrapper sheet material is cut along the line A-A so that the portion of the wrapper having one or more mark(s) extends beyond the filter sections of each mouthpiece to form a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth.

It should be noted that although the specific embodiments of the present invention described above relate to smoking products that include a filter and a tobacco rod, a similar arrangement of the cavity at the end that is inserted into the mouth can also be used for a non-burning smoking product as described above.

Claims (15)

FORMULA OF THE INVENTION 1. A smoking article comprising: a tobacco rod and a mouthpiece comprising at least one section and a wrapper which circumferentially surrounds said at least one section and defines a cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth, said mouthpiece being positioned coaxially with said tobacco rod and having a rod end which is adjacent to the tobacco rod and an end opposite to said rod end which is inserted into the mouth; wherein one or more mark(s) are located on the inner surface of that part of the wrapper which defines the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth. 2. A smoking product according to claim 1, characterized in that the wrapper, which includes one or more mark(s), is a wrapper for a string. 3. A smoking article according to claim 2, characterized in that the smoking article also includes a rim wrapper that surrounds the mouthpiece and connects said mouthpiece to the tobacco rod. 4. A smoking article according to claim 3, wherein the rim wrap extends beyond at least one section of the mouthpiece such that the rim wrap is over that portion of the rod wrap which forms a cavity located at the mouthpiece end. 5. A smoking article according to any one of claims 2, 3 or 4, characterized in that the coil wrapper, which includes one or more indicia (oc), extends part of the length of the mouthpiece from the end which is inserted into the mouth, so that a certain part of the mouthpiece on the bar end is not covered by the rod wrap. 6. A smoking product according to claim 5, which is characterized by the fact that it includes a ventilation zone located on the part of the mouthpiece that is not covered by the rod wrapper. 7. A smoking article according to claim 1, characterized in that the wrapper, which includes one or more indicia(s), is a rim paper that surrounds the mouthpiece and connects said mouthpiece to the tobacco stick. 8. The smoking article of claim 7, wherein the mouthpiece is first wrapped with a substantially transparent rod wrapper, and said rim paper is wrapped around said substantially transparent rod wrapper so that said indicia(s) are visible ( them) through the essentially transparent wrap for the rod. 9. A smoking product according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that said at least one section comprises a filter comprising one or more filter section(s). 10. A smoking product according to any of the preceding items, which is distinguished by the fact that on the outer surface of the mouthpiece there is an additional marking. 11. A smoking article according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the mark(s) in the cavity located at the mouth end are discrete mark(s) applied ) inside the cavity located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth. 12. A smoking article according to any one of claims 1-10, characterized in that the mark(s) in the cavity located at the end which is inserted into the mouth is/are a continuous pattern or image printed inside said cavity, located at the end, which is inserted into the mouth. 13. A method of manufacturing a mouthpiece for a smoking product, which includes the following steps: providing a wrapper sheet material with one or more mark(s) applied to it; providing a set of filter elements; positioning said filter elements on said wrapping sheet material such that said filter elements are spaced apart with one or more indicia(s) between adjacent filter elements; wrapping said wrapper sheet material around a portion of the filter elements such that said wrapper sheet material forms a cavity located at the mouth end with indicia located in said cavity located at the mouth end. 14. The method according to claim 13, characterized in that the position of said one or more mark(s) is registered using an optical device to enable the location of each mouthpiece adjacent to the mark.
