Description

Foldable electronic device

The present invention relates to an electronic device, and in particular to a foldable electronic device.

As the development of flexible display technology has become increasingly mature, in recent years, major electronics manufacturers have been actively investing in the integration of flexible screens, such as integrating flexible screens into electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops. Specifically, the design types of flexible screens can be broadly divided into outward folding design and inward folding design. The so-called outward-folding design refers to a design type in which the display side of the folded flexible screen faces outwards. In contrast, the so-called in-folding design refers to a design type in which the display side of the folded flexible screen faces inward.

Generally speaking, a flexible screen can be divided into a flexible section and two fixed sections, wherein the flexible section is located between the two fixed sections, and the two fixed sections are respectively fixed to two bodies. As far as the inward folding design is concerned, when the two bodies are in the unfolded state, the flexible section is completely unfolded flat. Correspondingly, when the two bodies transition from the expanded state to the closed state, the two fixed sections move synchronously with the two bodies respectively and push the flexible section, so that the flexible section is between the two bodies. Bending occurs in between. therefore, During the opening and closing process of the two bodies, how to prevent the flattened flexible section from collapsing and the bent flexible section from being squeezed and damaged is an urgent problem to be solved.

The present invention provides a foldable electronic device with excellent operational reliability and smoothness, and helps reduce the risk of damage to the flexible screen.

FIG. 3A is a schematic diagram of a foldable electronic device in an unfolded state according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 3B is a schematic side view of the foldable electronic device of FIG. 3A transitioning to a closed state. FIG. 3C is a partial exploded view of the foldable electronic device of FIG. 3B . In order to clearly present the internal structural configuration, the two bodies 11 in FIGS. 3A and 3B are shown with dotted lines, and some components in FIGS. 3A to 3C are omitted, such as the flexible screen 15 . Please refer to FIGS. 3A to 3C . The design of the foldable electronic device 10A of this embodiment is substantially the same as that of the foldable electronic device 10 of the previous embodiment. The difference between the two is that the foldable electronic device 10A of this embodiment is Integrated sealing design to block the intrusion of external moisture, dust or foreign matter.

Specifically, the foldable electronic device 10A further includes two sealing rings 16 , wherein the two sealing rings 16 are respectively arranged on the two bodies 11 , and each sealing ring 16 is along the periphery of the corresponding body 11 configuration. More specifically, each body 11 has a first casing 111 and a second casing 112 installed on the first casing 111, and the sealing ring 16 is fixed between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112. For example, it is fixed at the assembly gap between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112 to prevent external moisture, dust or foreign matter from passing between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112 The assembly gap enters the inside of the device, so it helps to reduce the probability of failure or damage of the foldable electronic device 10A, thereby increasing the service life.

3D to 3G are partial cross-sectional schematic diagrams of a foldable electronic device transitioning between an unfolded state and a closed state according to another embodiment of the present invention. Please refer to FIGS. 3A to 3D . In this embodiment, each sealing ring 16 has a first sealing section 161 and a second sealing section 162 connected to the first sealing section 161 . The first sealing section 161 is along the body 11 The second sealing section 162 extends along three sides of the body 11 .

Please refer to FIGS. 3D to 3G . Part of the second sealing section 162 of each sealing ring 16 protrudes toward the base 12 from the assembly gap between the corresponding first casing 111 and the second casing 112 and contacts the base. 12 outer surface 124. That is to say, the second sealing section 162 of each sealing ring 16 blocks the intrusion path of external moisture, dust or foreign matter, etc., so as to prevent external moisture, dust or foreign matter from passing between the body 11 and the base 12 The assembly gap enters the inside of the device, so it helps to reduce the probability of failure or damage of the foldable electronic device 10A, thereby increasing the service life.

162a。 As the two bodies 11 are opened and closed, the second sealing section 162 slides against the outer surface 124 of the base 12 . In detail, the second sealing section 162 of each sealing ring 16 includes a positioning portion 162a, a blocking portion 162b relative to the positioning portion 162a, and a buffer portion 162c located between the positioning portion 162a and the blocking portion 162b, wherein the positioning portion 162a is fixed. Between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112 , the blocking portion 162 b protrudes toward the base 12 . In addition, the buffer portion 162c extends from the positioning portion 162a to the blocking portion 162b and is perpendicular to the positioning portion 162a.

The positioning part 162a and the buffering part 162c can be used to improve the reliability of the second sealing section 162 assembled between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112, and to improve the stability between the first casing 111 and the second casing 112. Degree of sealing. On the other hand, the blocking portion 162b is in sliding contact with the outer surface 124 of the base 12 to prevent the intrusion of external moisture, dust or foreign matter. As shown in FIGS. 3D to 3G , each sealing ring 16 can be made of rubber or silicone, or other soft materials with good waterproof and airtight properties. Therefore, the blocking portion 162b slides on the outer surface 124 of the base 12 Can be pushed and elastically deformed. For example, the cross-sectional profile of the blocking portion 162b may be triangular, but is not limited thereto.

112。 In this embodiment, the positioning portion 162a can extend to opposite sides along a direction perpendicular to the buffer portion 162c, so as to be inserted into the first casing 111 and the second casing 112 respectively, thereby improving the assembly reliability and improving the stability of the assembly. Waterproof and airtight. In other embodiments, the positioning portion 162a can extend to one side along a direction perpendicular to the buffer portion 162c to be inserted into the first casing 111 or the second casing 112 .

4A to 4D are partial cross-sectional schematic diagrams of a foldable electronic device transitioning between an unfolded state and a closed state according to another embodiment of the present invention. Please refer to FIGS. 4A to 4D . The design of the foldable electronic device 10B of this embodiment is substantially the same as that of the foldable electronic device 10A of the previous embodiment. The difference between the two lies in the cross-section of the blocking portion 162b1 of this embodiment. The profile may be fan-shaped to improve the smoothness of the blocking portion 162b1 sliding on the outer surface 124 of the base 12 and to improve the durability of the blocking portion 162b1 that contacts the friction base 12 for a long time. In addition, the blocking part 162b1 and the buffering part 162c are connected by a flexible part 162d, and the flexible part 162d can elastically deform along with the blocking part 162b1 to avoid stress concentration that may cause the blocking part 162b1 and the buffering part 162c to Break apart.

To sum up, as the two bodies are opened and closed, the two supporting members are driven by the two bodies respectively, and the flexible section of the pushed and pulled flexible screen moves with the two supporting members. When the two bodies are in the unfolded state, the two support members remain horizontal and the stretched flexible sections are completely unfolded. Under the support of the two supporting members, the flexible section is not prone to collapse. Correspondingly, when the two bodies are converted from the expanded state to the closed state, the two supporting members are tilted, and the pushed flexible segments are bent. A space for accommodating the bent flexible section is formed between the two inclined supports to prevent the flexible section from being squeezed and damaged. Therefore, the foldable electronic device of the present invention not only has excellent operational reliability and smoothness, but also helps reduce the risk of damage to the flexible screen.

On the other hand, a sealing design is integrated between the two casings of each body and between each body and the base to prevent external moisture, dust or foreign matter from passing through the assembly gap between the two casings or the body. The assembly gap between the foldable electronic device and the base penetrates into the device, thus helping to reduce the chance of failure or damage to the foldable electronic device, thereby extending its service life.
