Abstract

The present invention provides a method for controlling over clocking of a Central Processing Unit (CPU). The method includes: setting a first threshold temperature at which the CPU starts over clocking in a certain phase; starting over clocking if a working temperature of the CPU is larger than the first threshold temperature; determining whether the working temperature of the CPU is larger than a second threshold temperature at which the computer should be shut off; setting another threshold temperature at which the CPU starts over clocking in a next phase and setting a frequency of the CPU if the working temperature of the CPU is smaller than the second threshold temperature; lowering the frequency of the CPU if the working temperature of the CPU is larger than the second threshold temperature. By utilizing the present invention, efficiency of the computer can be enhanced.
