Abstract
To provide: a process for efficiently producing in a short time an isocyanurate-bond-containing modified polyisocyanate mixture which has such a low organic-polyisocyanate (monomer) content that no practical problems arise even without conducting the step of purification by distillation after reaction and which further has a low viscosity; and a catalyst for isocyanurate bond formation reactions which is for use in the process. The catalyst for isocyanurate bond formation reactions comprises a compound represented by the following general formula (1). The process comprises using the catalyst to cause an organic polyisocyanate to undergo an isocyanurate bond formation reaction to produce an isocyanurate-bond-containing modified polyisocyanate mixture. [Chemical formula 1] [In the formula, M is an alkaline earth metal; R1 and R2 may be the same or different and each represents C6-10 alkyl; and n is 0 or 1.]
