Abstract

Apparatus for the exact and repeatable positioning in one or more predetermined positions of a material handling device (14), which is mounted on a carriage (2), which is movable to an fro on a stand (1), and where the stand is equipped with a device in the form of a releasable positioning rail (8) designed to be capable of being fitted with one or more stops (10) to work in conjunction with corresponding locking devices (11) attached to the carriage (2). The positioning plate with the stop (10) enables an exact and repeatable positioning of the carriage (2) in predetermined positions. The stop can consist of a mechanical marking and reader device, or of optical, electrical or magnetic markings on the positioning rail (8).<IMAGE>
