Abstract

Disclosed is a frame comprising a plastic basic profile (2, 2a) which essentially forms the inside (14) of the frame and is provided with several hollow chambers (5, 19), and a metal profile (3) that forms the outside (13) of the frame. The filling or glazing (12, 12a) is retained by a glass contacting chamber (8) of the basic profile (2, 2a) on the inside (14) while being retained by the metal profile (3) on the outside (13). The metal profile (3) forming the outside (13) encompasses at least one stiffening hollow chamber (4, 4a) such that the frame dispenses with the need for an additional metallic profiled reinforcement in one of the hollow chambers (5, 19) of the basic profile (2, 2a).
