Abstract

액정표시소자를 사용하는 투사형 액정표시장치에 관한 것이며 특히 소형이며 밝기 등의 화질 성능이 양호한 투사형 액정표시장치에 관한 것으로서, 액정표시소자의 사이즈가 작아지면 조명수단에 의해 조명되는)면적이 작아지기 때문에 광원에서 방출된 모든 광속량에 대한 액정표시소자상에 투사되는 광속량의 비가 낮아지는 등의 문제점을 해결하기 위해서, 광원, 광원에서 방출된 광을 조사면에 조사시키는 조명수단, 광을 변조하는액정표시소자 및 액정표시소자에서 출사한 광을 투사하기 위한 투사수단을 포함하며, 조명수단은 적어도 한개의 타원형 미러 및 한개의 구면형 미러를 포함하고, 또 조명수단은 광원측에서 여러개의 렌즈가 광학축에 수직으로 배열된 제1렌즈어레이 및 제2렌즈어레이와 제2렌즈어레이에 의해 방출된 광을 액정표시소자에 고효율로조사하기 위한 집광렌즈를 포함하는 구성으로 하였다.
이런한 구성에 의해서, 광원에서 출사되는 광의 이용효율을 증가시킬 수 있고 따라서 소형이고 양호한 화질성능을 갖는 밝은 토사형 액정표시장치를 제공할 수가 있다.

제1도는 본 발명에 의한 투사형 액정 표시장치의 광학계의 구성을 도시한 도면.

Claims (8)

  1. 광원, 상기 광원에서 방출된 광을 조사면에 조사시키는 조명수단, 광을 변조하는 액정표시소자 및 상기 액정표시소자에서 출사한 광을 투사하기 위한 투사수단을 포함하며, 상기 조명수단은 적어도 한개의 타원형 미러 및 한개의 구면형 미러를 포함하고, 또 상기 조명수단은 광원측에서 여러개의 렌즈가 광학축에 수직으로배열된 제1렌즈어레이 및 제2렌즈어레이와 상기 제2렌즈어레이에 의해 방출된 광을 상기 액정표시소자에 고효율로 조사하기 위한 집광렌즈를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 조명수단의 광원측에 배치된 상기 제1렌즈어레이를 구성하는 상기 렌즈는 직사각형이고, 상기 렌즈중 적어도 하나의 렌즈는 직사각형 형상의 중심에 존재하지 않는 광학축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 조명수단의 상기 액정표시소자측에 배치된 상기 제2렌즈어레이를 구성하는 상기렌즈의 적어도 하나의 사각형상이고, 상기 렌즈중 적어도 하나의 렌즈는 직사각형 형상의 중심에 존재하지 않는 광학축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2렌즈어레이를 구성하는 상기 렌즈중에 적어도 하나는 사변형상이고 적어도 하나는 오각형상인 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 집광렌즈는 광학축 근방의 중심부가 평면에 가까운 비구면형상을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 구면형 미러의 반사면은 알루미늄중착 등에 의해 이루어진 반사막인 것을 특징으로하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2렌즈어레이는 상기 제1렌즈어에리를 형성하는 각 렌즈에 대응하는 동일수의 렌즈를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 조명수단은 케이스 전체를 교환하는 것에 의해 교환가능한 것을 특징으로 하는 투사형 액정표시장치.
