Abstract

A fire-resistant putty consists of (a) 100 pts. wt. of a polymer of chloroprene type, liq. at room temp. (b) 1-35 pts. chloroprene rubber, (c) 200-600 pts. of a water-insol. inorganic filler contg. water of hydration, and (d) 15-100 pts. of a heatresistant fibre. The putty, which is nondrying at room temp. is used in the electrical industry and in automobiles, to fill intermediate spaces and give water-and air-tightness, e.g. round electric cables passing through partitions. The putty is easily worked, and has dimensional stability, and good elasticity and extensibility.
