Abstract

An LED driver with a pulse width modulation is provided to obtain high efficiency and high luminance by repeatedly storing and discharging an electric current at a driving unit according to turning on/off a switching device. An LED driver with a pulse width modulation includes a power source supply unit(100), a power source controller(110), a switching device(120), and an LED driving unit(130). The power source supply unit(100) supplies a power source to drive an LED. The power source controller(110) modulates a pulse width of the power source supplied through the power source supply unit(100) and controls an amount and time of an electric current flowing through the LED. The switching device(120) is connected to the power source controller(110) and is turned-on/off under a control of the power source controller(110). The LED driving unit(130) stores the electric current when the power source controller(110) turns on the switching device(120) and discharges the electric current when the power source controller(110) turns off the switching device(120) in order to drive the LED.

The present invention relates to an LED driving device capable of reducing energy loss through pulse width modulation, and more particularly, through PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) control of modulating a pulse width in a power control unit of power supplied through a power supply unit. The present invention relates to an LED driving device by pulse width modulation that can control an amount and time of an electric current flowing through an LED to repeat the accumulation and discharge of an electric current while the LED is turned on and optimize the brightness of the LED to reduce energy loss.

In general, a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) circuit is a circuit that monitors the output information of a power circuit and outputs control signals to power components. It is used in many power circuits such as switching power supplies with high power conversion ratio, motor inductors, audio class D amplifiers, DC-DC converters, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The PWM circuit converts the amplitude into the width of the pulse. PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation, and the width of the pulse is always maintained to maintain the constant voltage or constant current without changing the output voltage due to the variation of the input voltage and the output load. To convert it. In other words, the amplitude of the input voltage is converted (modulated) into the width of the pulse having a constant amplitude.
