Claims (10)
- (i) 하기 화학식 I의 양의 유전율 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 제 1 양의 유전율 성분인 A 성분,(ii) 하기 화학식 II 및 III의 화합물 군으로부터 선택된 양의 유전율 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 제 2 양의 유전율 성분인 B 성분, 및(iii) 하기 화학식 IV의 중간 유전율 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 중간 유전율 성분인 C 성분(단, 중간 유전율은 -1.5≤Δε≤3.0의 범위임)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질:[상기 식에서,R1은 탄소원자 1 내지 7개의 알킬, 알콕시, 플루오르화 알킬 또는 플루오르화 알콕시, 탄소원자 2 내지 7개의 알켄일, 알켄일옥시, 알콕시알킬 또는 플루오르화 알켄일이고;X1은 할로겐, 탄소원자 1 내지 3개의 할로겐화 알킬 또는 알콕시, 또는 탄소원자 2 또는 3개의 할로겐화 알켄일 또는 알켄일옥시이다][상기 식에서,R2 및 R3은 서로 독립적으로 탄소원자 1 내지 7개의 알킬, 알콕시, 플루오르화 알킬 또는 플루오르화 알콕시, 탄소원자 2 내지 7개의 알켄일, 알켄일옥시, 알콕시알킬 또는 플루오르화 알켄일이고;L21, L22, L31 및 L32는 서로 독립적으로 H 또는 F이고;X2 및 X3은 서로 독립적으로 할로겐, 탄소원자 1 내지 3개의 할로겐화 알킬 또는 알콕시, 또는 탄소원자 2 또는 3개의 할로겐화 알켄일 또는 알켄일옥시이고;Z3은 -CH2CH2-, -CF2CF2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O- 또는 단일 결합이고;l, m, n 및 o는 서로 독립적으로 0 또는 1이고;이들 화합물중에서 화학식 I의 화합물은 제외된다][상기 식에서,R41 및 R42는 서로 독립적으로 상기 화학식 II의 R2에서 주어진 의미를 갖고;Z41 및 Z42는 서로 독립적으로, Z41이 2개 존재하는 경우에 이들도 서로 독립적으로 -CH2CH2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O-, -CF2O-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합이고;p는 0 또는 1이다].
- 제 1 항에 있어서,액정 매질중 A 성분의 농도가 1 질량% 내지 50 질량% 범위인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,A 성분이 X1이 F인 화학식 I의 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,제 1 항에 정의된 화학식 II의 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,제 1 항에 정의된 화학식 III의 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질.

- 제 1 항에 있어서,하기 화학식 VI의 화합물 하나 이상을 포함하는 D 성분을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 매질:상기 식에서,R61 및 R62는 서로 독립적으로, 제 3 항의 화학식 II의 R2에 대해 주어진 의미를 갖고;Z61 및 Z62는 서로 독립적으로, Z61이 2개 존재하는 경우에는 이들도 서로 독립적으로 -CH2CH2-, -COO-, 트랜스-CH=CH-, 트랜스-CF=CF-, -CH2O-, -CF2O-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합이고;r은 0, 1 또는 2이다.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 5 항 및 제 7 항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 액정 매질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,능동형 매트릭스(active matrix)에 의해 어드레싱되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
