Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for modifying the surface of a coupler made of aluminium-base alloys for use in projection television is provided to improve corrosion resistance of the coupler by anodizing and electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION: The method includes the steps of anodizing a coupler to form a porous oxide film on the coupler; electrodepositing the anodized coupler with a solution comprising 10 to 50 % of acryl resin, 10 % or less of melamine resin, 45 % or less of solvent and dispersant, 10 % or less of additive and a balance of water; and drying the coupler after electrodeposition.
