Incidentally, conventionally, the edge member 2 was attached to such a mat 1 by bonding with an adhesive 3 as shown in FIG. This requires a long work time, including applying the adhesive with a brush and waiting for it to harden. Moreover, there is a risk that the joint may peel off due to aging of the adhesive after long-term use. If the material of the mat 1 is different from that of the mat 1 during transportation and storage, problems such as the mat 1 waving due to the difference in expansion and contraction between the two members due to temperature and temperature may occur. It was inconvenient because it could not be folded or bent to make it smaller.

Furthermore, the above two-step edge processing is effective when applied to mats in which the thin synthetic resin strings constituting the mat have a relatively large diameter (approximately 1φ) and a thick mat (approximately 15 mm). On the other hand, it has a small diameter (0.5φ) and is thin (9mm).
The edge processing described above can be performed on mats of about 100 to 100 cm by a single step of placing an edge belt directly on the side edge of the mat and performing high-frequency heating treatment while pressing with a press die.

In processing the edge member 2, when the edge surface is inclined, it is effective to use a cross-sectional model in which the edge belt 6° itself has an inclined surface, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10. The pressing die 4' at this time also has a contact surface along the belt slope. Furthermore, the edge belt 6 or 6'' may be provided with a removal groove 7 (see FIG. 10) that fits with the thin plate portion 5, and the joining process may be performed while checking the edge belt 6 or 6''. In this case, it is effective to adopt a structure in which a sponge plate is attached to the bottom surface of the mat 1.

As described above, according to the method of the present invention, a mat made of thin strings made of soft synthetic resin entwined in a coil shape and processed into a sheet is formed into a desired size, and the side edges of the mat are coated with a material similar to the mat material. Since the edge belt made of synthetic resin material is attached by high-frequency heating treatment, firstly, the high-frequency treatment is a short-time batch process using a pressing die, so it is possible to shorten the working time. It is extremely unlikely to peel off, and since it is the same material as the mat material, the mat product can maintain its flexibility and can be rolled up or folded, making it convenient for transportation and storage due to its small size. There is no need to worry about shrinkage and deformation due to temperature changes, so it can always be used in the best condition, and the thickness and shape of the edge part can be freely selected and processed. In addition, the edge can be processed all around the mat. In some cases, by using a mold with a curved inner corner that is applied to the corner of Mar/1, it is possible to eliminate the seepage of softened surplus resin from the inner corner and achieve a good-looking finish. The edge surface can be finished with a glossy finish by pressing, and it can be configured to have high commercial value.
The method of the present invention is extremely superior as an edge processing method for this type of floor mat.
