大量に排出され、その処理の一つとして焼却処理が行わ
れている。しかしながら、廃棄物の種類によっては高い
発熱量を有し、また完全燃焼が困難で多量の煤煙を放出
し、あるいは悪臭や有毒ガスを発生したりして二次公害
を生じることが少なくない。従って、産業廃棄物用の種
々の焼却炉が開発されるが、未だ満足な燃焼の行える炉

に優れた燃焼効果を示したが、なお、煤煙や有毒ガスの

らの燃焼廃ガスを煙突に導きかつ燃焼廃ガス中の粉塵を
捕集するための集塵室を有する燃焼装置によって前記の

がなされている。この燃焼装置で、例えば繊維補強プラ
スチック(FRP)製メートの老朽破損物のチップ状粉
砕物を燃焼させるときKは、先づ炉蓋5を開いて第1燃
焼室7に、略第2燃焼室8の底部の高さに達するまでF
RPチップを投入し、その上を点火のために木屑フ覆い
、木屑に点火し、炉蓋を閉じ、空気供給口61だけを開
放して第1燃焼室に空気を送入する。FRPチップの点
火が確認され、その燃焼が始まったならば、空気供給口
62も開いて第1燃焼室への供給空気3゛を増大させる
。チップの燃焼は第1図において次第に右から左に向っ
て進行し、同時に上方から下方に向って進行する。なお
、空気供給口は適宜の数を配置して突気供給量を調節す
るのが好ましい。燃焼が進むにつれて空気供給口63も
適宜開放して燃焼を促進させる。次第に燃焼が激しくな
ると第1燃焼室内には波状の気流が生じチップは表層か
ら芯部に徐々に焼却されるが、このような状況に達した
ならば第2燃焼室の空気供給口64を開放して、第1燃
焼室で完全燃焼しなかった可燃性ガスを第2燃焼室8内
で略完全に燃焼させる。第2燃焼室から出てくる燃焼ガ
スはサイクロンの形状を有する円筒状の集塵室9の中に
接線方向から侵入し、ここフサイクロンの作用を受けて
、その中に含まれていた僅かな未燃物が捕集されて集塵
室の底に溜まる。集塵後の廃ガスは殆んど完全忙燃焼し
ていて、煙突4から大気中に放出されるが、悪臭も殆ん
どなく、煤煙も極めて僅少〒あり、環境汚染の恐れが殆
