Abstract

PURPOSE:To enlarge a head spacing by constituting a load applied to a magnetic head by >=2 spring members in a gimbal support system for supporting the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A spring part 6 is provided and a head load is changed by changing the quantity of deflection of the spring part 6. In the spring part 6, a gimbal is doubled, a part of the gimbal is fixed and only the spring part may be separated. In a state shown by a solid line in the drawing, since one added spring member 7 is free, the head load is applied only by the spring member. By raising the fixed member 7 in a direction shown by an arrow, the deflection of the spring part 6 applies the load to the head. By constituting in this manner, the load of the head can be changed, so that when the head is not used, a head spacing can be enlarged.
