(Prior Art) A very important aspect of making sails is to produce a sail that absorbs maximum stress with minimum distortion. This is accomplished by cutting the fabric into panels such that the yarns of the fabric run parallel to the stress direction of the sail. Near the corners of the sail, stress lines generally extend radially outward from the corners. It is therefore an object of the invention to construct a sail fabric with yarns that are approximately equal to the stress distribution at the corners of the sail and extend radially outwards.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION As stated above, the present invention is directed to a sail fabric that incorporates warp yarns that extend radially outward from a central tip. The canvas is made of warp threads adhesively bonded to the sides of a stable plastic sheet, or warp threads bonded between two stable plastic sheets, or warp threads bonded between two stable plastic sheets. It consists of warp threads that are connected between the stabilized plastic and the fabric, or warp threads that are joined together with the weft threads and are joined at the intersection with the weft threads.

Referring to FIG. 4, a typical triangular shaped sail is shown. The three corners 12, 14, i6 of the sail are
It consists of a truncated triangle constructed according to the invention with warp threads extending radially. At the tip 16 of the sail, the panels 22 are 3
Four panels 24 are provided at the windward corner 14, and four panels 26 are provided at the crew corner 12. The panels 18 are sewn together parallel to each other along their adjacent edges. The sail body 28 consists of panels 30 of conventional fabric, the warp threads 32 of which are parallel. Assembled in this manner, the radially extending warp threads 20 of the panels forming the sail corners carry the tensile loads from the sail body to the sail corners. This allows for control and reduction of sail distortion, tension, and sail warping. As mentioned above, there are three triangular panels at the tip of the sail,
There are four triangular shaped panels in each lower corner of the sail. However, there may be more or fewer panels at the top and bottom of the sail.

According to the present invention, the warp threads 20 of the above-mentioned crowned triangular panel
are arranged so that the warp threads 20 extend radially, that is, each warp thread 20 branches toward the base of the panel. The tip and lower triangular panels of the sail each carry warp threads 20 arranged radially, as shown in FIG.
In addition, it is constructed by fixing the warp yarns 20 to the substrate P. The substrate P may be made of a plastic sheet. The warp threads 20 are adhesively fixed to this plastic sheet. Optionally, the radial alignment of the warp threads 20 may be inserted between two plastic sheets, as shown in FIG. 1A, or between the plastic sheet 1- and the fabric F, as shown in FIG. 1B. It may be inserted into. FIG. 2 is a diagram showing that the radially extending warp threads 22 are integrated in a general woven fabric F consisting of warp threads 20 and stuffing threads, or weft threads 34. FIG. 3 shows a fabric in which radially extending warp threads 20 cooperate with weft threads 36 and are adhesively fixed at their intersections.

The warp threads consist of an array of radially extending lengths of thread, each arranged radially with respect to each other, and either bonded to the substrate or using warp guides 38 with different sensibilities as shown in FIG. This allows it to be integrated into the fabric. Such a composite structure is cut and finished to the appropriate length and shape (Fig. 5) according to the arrangement of the sail structure.
