流によるリード線の電圧降下等が加わるため開閉
器の受ける異常電圧がその絶縁強度を越え事故に
進展する事例がしばしば発生している。従つて、
さらに有効な保護を期待するためには、この開閉
器に避雷器を極力近接して配置することが必要と
なる。また、開閉器施設個所における避雷器取付
工事は線路側リード線、接地側配線が複雑である
ため、かなりの労力を要し、しかもこれらの避雷
器は過去の調査事例を見ると吸湿、リード線切
れ、汚損および工事中の打撃損傷等に起因する事
故が発生する場合がある。
