Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize automatic control of a suction flow quantity without causing complication of a constitution by detecting whether piles exist or not on a floor surface in a suction zone of a suction part, and determining the condition of the floor surface based on result in detection whether piles exist or not. CONSTITUTION: A dust collector 7 has a light emitting element 13 and a light receiving element 15 provided to face each other at a suction port 11 of it for composition a pile detection means to detect a condition of a floor surface. In the case where a floor surface 17 for cleaning is a carpet, a level of a received light signal from the light receiving element 15 is low, so a control device 3 determines that the floor surface 17 is the carpet. The control device 3 controls a turbine motor 2 to adjust a suction flow to a preliminarily set flow which is suitable for the carpet, and driving of a motor 9 is started to start rotational operation of a rotary brush 8. In the case where the floor surface is a Tatami (rush mat) or wood floor, the level of the received light signal from the light receiving element 15 is not low. In the result the control device 3 judges that the floor surface 7 is the Tatami or wood floor, and controls the turbine motor 2 to adjust the suction flow to stop the motor 9.
