Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve weld quality by coating a nitride or a carbide of a simple substance or an alloy of B, Al, Si, Ti, Va, Cr, Zr, Hf, Ta and W in a dry state on the surfaces of welding gas nozzle and an electrode chip. CONSTITUTION:The nitride, the carbide, etc., of the simple substance or the alloy of the B, Al, Si, Ti, Va, Cr, Zr, Hf, Ta and W are coated on the surfaces of the torch nozzle and the electrode chip for welding such as CO2 gas shielded arc welding. At this time, the coating is formed by a dry coating method of one of spattering, ion plating and plasma CVD. By this method, since the surfaces of the nozzle and the electrode chip are coated by materials with the high melting point and high hardness, the nozzle or the electrode chip is prevented from melting and wearing away. Since gas flow turbulence due to sticking of spatter metal grains is prevented, the weld quality is ultimately improved.
