Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the grinding in good surface roughness to be attained by electrodepositing diamond on the surface of a steel-made master main unit, having a shape corresponding to a gear after completion of cutting, to obtain a dressing master and dressing a grinding wheel, mounted to a workpiece shaft, by the dressing master. CONSTITUTION:A steel made master main unit 11 is formed into a shape almost equal to the shape after completion of gear cutting of a spiral bevel gear or the like to be ground, and forming a dressing master 10 by electrodepositing a diamond abrasive grain 12, it provides hardness higher than that of a CBN abrasive grain, strictly selecting a mesh. Mounting the dressing master 10 to a workpiece shaft of a gear finishing machine to perform the dressing of a grinding wheel 1 mounted to a grinding wheel shaft, when a depth of cut is set to about 1/4 the abrasive grain size, a large grain or a doubled grain is crushed as shown by 3e and detached falling as shown by 3f. Accordingly, many workpieces are ground, till their surface roughness is stably obtained, by a single dressing operation.
