Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the plate wear of a printing plate and to eliminate the scumming of printed matter by providing a surface layer consisting of a specific resin to said plate. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic sensitive body constituted by providing a photoconductive layer and surface layer on a conductive base is used for the titled master plate. The surface layer is formed of the resin (A) having the group of the formula I: -C(=O)-X. In the formula, X consists of the groups expressed by the formulas II-V; Y denotes O, S; R1-R8 denote H, aliphat. group; n denotes 5, 6; Z denotes a residual org. group forming a cyclic imide group. The above-mentioned resin A is obtd. by copolymerizing, for example, ethyl methacrylate and the monomer of the formula VI having the group expressed by the formula I. The master plate having the surface layer to which both the high hydrophilicity and water resistance are compatibly imparted by a hydrophiling treatment is thereby produced.
