Abstract

PURPOSE:To check a defect in the outer wall of a bottle comprising a light transmitting material accurately at a high speed, by an constitution, wherein light from a light source part, which is provided in the bottle, is transmitted through the outer wall of the bottle and inputted into a light receiving part. CONSTITUTION:Bottles 9 are sequentially conveyed to specified places of a rotating table 6 and mounted on pushing up stage 7. The bottle 9 is slowly pushed up during the time the table 6 is rotated about one rotation with the stage 7. With the lifting of the bottle 9, the parts of the bottle from the opening part to the shoulder part through the neck part is sequentially inserted into a detecting unit 11a. Namely, a light source part 1 is relatively inserted through the opening part of the bottle 9. At the same time, a light receiving part 3 is lowered so as to surround the outside of the bottle 9 in synchronization with the light source part 1. In the lifting step of the bottle, the light from the light source part 1 is transmitted through each part of the opening part, the neck part and shoulder part and inputted into each light sensor 3a of the light receiving part 3 at the outside. The output from each light sensor 3a is inputted into a signal processing part and a judging part as the detected signal of a defect. The signal is converted into a signal indicating the result of the check and displayed.
