Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite material useful as material for turbine parts, etc., by providing a composite structure in which prescribed amounts of carbide ceramic grains are incorporated as a dispersed phase into a matrix of Co-base alloy containing respectively prescribed amounts of Co, Cr, W, and Fe. CONSTITUTION:The material, combining cavitation resistance with earth and sand abrasion resistance, of this invention is a metal-ceramic composite material having a composite structure consisting of a metallic matrix and ceramic grains which are mixed as a dispersed phase into the above metallic matrix. The above metallic matrix is a Co-base alloy consisting of 50-65% Co, 10-40% Cr, 5-15% W, and <=4.5% Fe. Further, the ceramic grains are carbide ceramic grains, in particular, such as Cr3C2, SiC, and W, and they comprise 5-30wt.% of the composite structure. Moreover, the suitable grain size of the above ceramic grains is 0.1-10mum.
