Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber suitable as radial tires, etc., without deteriorating strength at high temperatures, loads, etc., in using for reinforcing rubber structures of automotive tires, conveyor belts, etc., by spinning a polyester fiber so as to provide a specific crystal volume and air permeability. CONSTITUTION:The aimed fiber obtained by spinning a polyester, containing ethylene terephthalate as main constituent units and having >=0.9 intrinsic viscosity and <=15 equiv./10<6>g polymer content of terminal carboxyl groups, e.g. by suppressing orientation, cooling and solidifying the resultant fiber, applying a hydrophilic oiling agent, taking off the oiled fiber, preferably at 200-1,000m/min take-off speed and having 2.0X10<5>-4.5X10<5>Angstrom <3> crystal volume and <=1.0kg/cm<2>/hr air permeability after twisting the fiber into a cord, treating the twisted fiber with an adhesive and vulcanizing the treated fiber in rubber.
