Abstract
PURPOSE:To infiltrate Co infiltration alloy into a ferroalloy green compact and to manufacture a member made of ferrous sintered alloy excellent in self-lubricity and resistance to heat and wear, by compacting a ferroalloy powder and a copper infiltration alloy powder having respectively specified compositions into two layers and then subjecting the resulting two-layer green compact to sintering. CONSTITUTION:A powder of ferroalloy having a composition containing, by weight, 1.0-2.0% C, 2-10% Cr, 0.1-0.9% Si, 5-25% Mo and/or W, <0.7% Mn, <0.05% P, 0.5-2.0% B, and <=20%, in total, of one or more elements among V, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf, Co, and Ni is compacted. Subsequently, an infiltration alloy powder having a composition consisting of <=10% of one or more elements among Pb, Sn, Zn, and Co and the balance Cu is filled onto the green compact of ferroalloy and then compacted, by which a two-layer green compact consisting of the ferroalloy and the Cu infiltration alloy is formed. This green compact is heated in vacuum at 1,100-1,140 deg.C to undergo sintering reaction simultaneously with the infiltrating reaction of the Cu alloy, by which the ferrous sintered alloy member excellent in self-lubricity and wear resistance can be manufactured.
