Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material contg. a cyan coupler having the excellent spectral absorption characteristics by incorporating a specified coupler in a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:In the titled material comprising at least one layer of the silver halide emulsion layers mounted on a supporting body, the coupler shown by formula I is incorporated in the silver halide emulsion layer. In the formula, R1 is hydrogen atom or a substituent group, X is hydrogen atom or a group capable of releasing by allowing to reaction with the oxidant of a developing main agent, Za-Zc are each methine, a substd. methine, methylene, a substd. methylene or =N- group, etc., one of a binding Za-Zb and a binding Zb-Zc is a double bond, and an another one of them is a single bond, the groups Za, Zb and Zc together with each other may forms a ring, R2 is a substituent group selected from sulfonyl, sulfonyloxy and sulfonylmethyl, etc., (n) is an integer of 1 or 2. Thus, the novel titled material which is capable of giving an excellent clear cyan image having the spectral absorption characteristics and has a sharp absorption and the less absorption at a green region, is obtd.
