Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently perform transfer recording, by providing a card support plate for passing through a recording position while supporting a card from a hopper, a moving device for the plate, a moving device for moving a line type thermal head to an operative position and to a non-operative position, and a transfer medium. CONSTITUTION:A card support plate 9 receives one card 1 from a hopper 2, and is moved in parallel to the card 1 to pass through a recording position while supporting the card 1. A line type thermal head 14 is pressed against the card 1 on the card support plate 9, with a transfer film 18 therebetween, whereby a predetermined image can be transfer recorded on the card 1. The head 14 can be moved to an operative position for being pressed against the card 1 on the plate 1 and to a non-operative position for being out of contact with the card 1, whereby it is possible to prevent the head 14 from interfering with the movement of the card 1, by bringing the head 14 into the non-operative position, at a non-recording time or the like. Thus, transfer recording can be performed efficiently.
