Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture a lightweight, high strength formed board excellent in heat insulating properties by a method wherein stock aqueous slurry containing siliceous stock and calcareous stock or aqueous slurry containing secondary particles of quasi-crystals of calcium silicate are used for raw material in paper-making process. CONSTITUTION:Stock slurry is obtained by adding water to siliceous stock and calcareous stock. Raw material in paper-making process is obtained by further compounding fibrous substance to the stock aqueous slurry and aqueous slurry consisting of secondary particles of crystals of or quasi-crystals of calcium silicate. As the fibrous substance, both organic fibers and inorganic fibers can be employed depending on conditions for use. The aqueous slurry is made to paper and the resultant paper sheet is dewatered and continuously transferred for controlling water contents and laminated up to the predetermined thickness by being folded and piled and finally formed under pressure. When the raw material in paper-making process contains secondary particles of calcium silicate crystals, the aimed calcium silicate formed board is obtained by forming said raw material under pressure. When the raw material contains quasi-crystals or calcium silicate or stock slurry for manufacturing calcium silicate, the aimed formed-board is obtained through steaming treatment after forming under pressure.
