Abstract

PURPOSE:To cause an objective matter to be continuously separated at high membrane-permeating velocity without using a special washing device required for restoration of permeability of a membrane, by eliminating or reducing intermittently pressure exerted perpendicularly on the surface of a filtration membrane. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the case of separating fine particles such as of yeast, suspension liquid of yeast in a feed tank 1 is circulated by a pump 3 through a module 5 which includes filtration membranes. Filtration pressure is adjusted by a pressure regulation valve 8. By closing intermittently a valve 11 arranged in a passage 6 of permeating fluids so that pressure is exerted intermittently on permeating fluids on the permeating fluid side of a filtration membrane, pressure exerted perpendicularly on the filtration membranes is intermittently extinguished or reduced. After a predetermined period of time, when the valve 11 is opened again, cake layers on the filtration membranes come off, so that permeating velocity as high as before may be obtained. In this manner, averagely high permeating velocity can be obtained by pressurizing permeating fluids intermittently.
