CONSTITUTION:A light projector 3 is installed at an angle of 45 deg. for the yarn laying starting position on a bobbin 1. When yarn laying is started on the bobbin 1, ultrared rays 6 are irradiated at a yarn laying position from the light projector 3. Then, the quantity of the reflected light 8 is detected by a reflection type photoelectric sensor 4, and a light quantity output voltage V1 is outputted. The output voltage after the lapse of a certain time from the start of yarn laying is set V2, and the difference between the output voltages V1 and V2 is obtained, and when the difference is over a set value, it is judged that the yarn laying succeeds.
