Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate black stripes to obtain a high-quality color image, by a method wherein a printing in a carriage scanning direction is carried out alternately by the first nozzle and by the n-th nozzle, and a distance between a printing part by the n-th nozzle in a prior printing and a printing part by the first nozzle in a next printing is made approximately the same as that between printing parts by the first and second nozzles in the prior printing. CONSTITUTION:Each of recording heads has, for example, 128 nozzles in parallel in a recording material feeding direction. The first nozzles of the respective recording heads record only odd-numbered lines in a carriage scanning direction, and the 128th nozzles record only even-numbered lines. As a result, a recording in a carriage scanning direction is carried out alternately by the first nozzle and by the last nozzle. On the other hand, in a recording material feeding direction, a distance between a printing part by the n-th nozzle in a prior printing and a printing part by the first nozzle in a next printing is made approximately the same as that between printing parts by the first and second nozzles in the prior printing. In this manner, with respect to a single or mixed color printing, black stripes caused by the overlapping of ink can be eliminated or remarkably reduced at a recording boundary part by every scanning.
