Abstract

PURPOSE:To set cooling conditions with high accuracy by detecting partial temps. of internal temps. of a roll by a thermometer installed in the roll interior. CONSTITUTION:A surface and inside hole temps. of a work roll 1 are detected by a surface thermometer 2 and an inside hole thermometer 3, respectively. Temp. measurement by the thermometer 2 is performed over the total width of the roll 1 and temp. measurement by the thermometer 3 is performed at plural measuring points positioned in the internal axis direction of the roll 1. Surface temps. (a) and hole temps. (b) detected by the thermometers 2, 3 are inputted to a computing element 4. Further, data (c) of rolling conditions such as a roll rotating speed, rolling force, etc., and cooling conditions are also inputted to the element 4. The element 4 finds a thermal crown amount (d) based on the data related to the roll surface and inside hole temps. as partial temps. of the internal temps.
