Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease additional circuits by providing a serial data port for ciphering and a serial data port for deciphering and placing the respective ports in independent operation with respective clock signals. CONSTITUTION: A control circuit 129 generates the process start signal of a ciphering/deciphering process part 128 from a timing signal between the serial data port 126 for ciphering and serial data port 127 for deciphering which operate asynchronously with each other. Both the serial data ports 126 and 127 can operate with completely independent timing signals. Namely, the ciphering serial data port 126 outputs ciphered text data by 1-bit exclusive OR operation with a ciphered signal each time plaintext data is supplied and the deciphering serial data port 127 outputs deciphered text data by 1-bit exclusive OR operation with a deciphered signal each time ciphered text data is supplied. Consequently, additional circuits can be decreased.
