PURPOSE:To cast continuously and inexpensively a clad billet by supplying perpendicularly and continuously a cladding material plate into a vertical mold provided right under a tundish, charging simultaneously the molten steel in the tundish into the mold between the cladding material plates and drawing the billet. CONSTITUTION:A cladding material plate 6 is perpendicularly and continuously supplied into a vertical mold 3 provided right under a tundish 1 in a way so as to contact the inside surface of the mold 3. At the same instant, the molten steel 14 in the tundish 1 is charged through the plate 6 into the mold 3. An unsolidified clad billet 10 deposited with the plate 6 on the outside surface thereof is continuously drawn from the inside of the mold 3. The billet 10 is then cooled and the clad billet is produced.
