Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled apparatus for discriminating the connection and kind of an attachment apparatus without using electrical connection, constituted so as to discriminating the kind of the attachment apparatus by operating the switch provided to the main body side of a printer by the switch operating member of the attachment apparatus when the attachment aparatus is loaded. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of microswitches 11 are attached to the main body side of a printer so as to be arranged in the vertical direction of a paper surface and metal fittings 12 for operating the microswitches 11 are attached to the side of an attachment apparatus such as a continuous paper feed apparatus. The metal fittings 12 are attached at positions differet at every attachment apparatus and the microswitches 11 are engaged with the metal fittings 12 when the attachment apparatus is loaded on the predetermined position of the printer main body while the projection 11a of each microswitch 11 is pressed by each metal fittings to operate said microswitch 11 and the connected state of the attachment apparatus and the kind thereof are discriminated by the main body of the printing apparatus.
