Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the dimensional stability and low impedance of an alkaline battery, and increase the preservation performance of the battery by using a separator prepared by laminating and unifying a micro-porous synthetic macromolecular film, a cellophane film, and a polyethylene film obtained through graft-polymerization. CONSTITUTION:After a positive mixture 2 is packed in a metal case 1, a separator 3, an electrolyte holding material 4 and a negative agent 5 are stacked over the mixture 2, in that order. Next, a sealing metal plate 7 is placed on the negative agent 5, with an insulating gasket 6 interposed between the case 1 and the plate 7, to seal the battery, thereby constituting an alkaline battery. The separator 3 is formed by laminating and unifying a micro-porous synthetic macromolecular film, a cellophane film, and a polyethylene film prepared by subjecting acrylic acid or methacrylic acid to graft-polymerization. Here, it is preferred that the micro-porous synthetic macromolecular film, which is located on the side of the positive mixture 2, is prepared from a micro-porous polypropylene film.
