Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the supply of machining liquid to a wire, cool it enough and prevent the snapping of the wire, by stranding a plurality of element wires together to manufacture the wire and use it for discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of element wires 2 are stranded together to manufacture a wire electrode 1. Wire-cut discharge machining is effected as machining liquid is supplied. At that time, the machining liquid diffuses in between the element wires 2. When the material quality and shape of the work are changed, the tension of the wire electrode 1 is changed to alter its diameter. According to this constitution, the speed of the machining can be augmented because the electric current for the discharge machining can be increased as well as the effect of cooling is increased.
